Beeld journalist Elana Carstens writes from Pretoria that 2,400 pupils of three Afrikaans schools in Pretoria walked onto a school's rugby field with large white crosses and laid down on the grass. The children from Booysens Primary, Saamspan Primary and Suiderberg High were commemorating the hundreds of thousands of South African victims who have already died in the country's violent crime epidemic which has been growing steadily worse ever since 1994. Besides the wooden crosses, the children also carried their own letters addressed to the country's acting-president, and prayed that this government leader would hear their plea for safety.
We don't trust the police - they are getting away with murder...
The children said in their letters to acting-president Kgalema Motlanthe that 'they didn't trust the police to protect them any more'-- many wrote that they were too terrified to even leave their own homes or go to bed at night. 'About 90% of the children are also asking in these letters for the reinstatement of the death penalty," said Kobus Hermitage, organiser and chairman of the South Africa Against Crime action group. "Something must be done urgently about crime in our country. Our children are now too scared to leave their homes."
Tanya Engelbrecht, 16, and Lavonne Benade, 16, pupils at Pretoria Tuine Technical High School, addressed the issue in their speeches to the assembled pupils -- accusing the ANC-regime 'not being able to bring crime under control: "We don't even have a police force we can trust. They are getting away with murder," Tanya said. "We have to stand together to fight crime in our beautiful country. "Ons is vir jou Suid-Afrika, Nkosi Sikelel 'iAfrika," Lavonne quoted the words from the national anthem.
ANC admits to 'policing problem'...
Retired defence force general Siphiwe "Ghebuza" Nyanda was also present, dispatched to speak on behalf of the ruling African National Congress party's national executive committee - (similar to a politbureau). He admitted that some of the children's accusations about the poor policing were accurate. "There are problems in the policing system,' he conceded. "We have to take responsibility for the deeds that were committed and the poor way in which crime has been handled." Frik van Wyk of the Freedom Front Plus opposition party said he was very disturbed by the way in which growing crime epidemic had been mishandled over the past 14 years by the regime. "It has taken the governing party 14 years just to admit there is a problem. Will it take them another 14 years to do something about it?"

20081122 Owen Daniels farm foreman murdered Platberg Elandslaagte = NOTHING ROBBED 
December 6 2008 - LADYSMITH. Beeld journalist Gerhard de Bruin reports that a 30-year-old black man, Bheki Nsibanyoni, was charged with murdering farm foreman Owen Daniels, 62, of the farm Platberg in Elandslaagte, and his granddaughter Kulsum Herbst, 20. Nsibanyoni had been released on early parole - imprisoned for a previous attempted murder and rape -- when he was arrested and charged with murdering Daniels and Mrs Herbst, a mother of a three-year-old girl. Police believe she was also raped before she was murdered. Police captain Charmaine Struwig of the KZN police said Nsibanyoni found a job as a labourer on Platberg after he was paroled. The murdered man's widow Cynthia Daniels, 61, said she and her granddaughter were absent from the farm: they were visiting with family in Bloemfontein during the tragedy.Mrs Daniels said that her husband was not happy with Nsibanyoni and suspected him of stealing various items on the farm. "He was going to report this to the farmer George Mitchell-Innes,' she said. She believes that her husband confronted Nsibanyoni shortly before his death about the matter and was murdered. The murders were discovered after the black parolee fled with Daniels' car but was arrested shortly thereafter for a traffic violation.Police discovered the bodies when they went to the farm to investigate its ownership.Struwig said Nsibanyoni and other workers had been sitting around outside Daniels' cottage on the afternoon before the murders, just chatting. Mrs Herbst was in her room at the time. Their reconstruction of the crime scene revealed that Mrs Daniels was bludgeoned to death outside his cottage and his daughter was raped at knifepoint and then killed with a hammer. The couple had been married about 40 years.Nsibanyoni was not asked to plead during his first court appearance. He will appear soon to set a bail application date hearing.

'Hello we are your security' - 22-member armed gang tells SA ' farewell-party' guests:
Durban. Nov 24 2008 - "Hello we are your security' shouted the 22-member Zulu-speaking armed gang as they stormed into a farewell-party for two families : emigrating to escape the SA crime epidemic over the weekend. The attack took place at at a luxury home at the Indian-ocean resort of La Lucia in Durban North, South Africa. (scroll map, left). An ominous racist aspect of this attack were the terrifying comments overheard by the guests from these attackers -- they were urging each other in Zulu to 'kill all the whites'... Others replied that 'that's not what we are here for,' and the (English-speaking white) guests escaped death: they were robbed of all their valuables but left unharmed... The gang was also curiously unconcerned about the fact that the alarms were howling away, taking their time to search guests for valuables and even walking off with the family's plasma-screen TV set. The homeowner and the party 's host, businessman Nick Gahagan said that the police took a full hour to show up.
Such feral, armed robber gangs are growing in size in South Africa. Ten years ago, they averaged 4 members, now 22-member gangs are not at all unusual. And these gangs are armed with some seriously illegal military hardware such as brand-new AK47s from China , semi-automatic Uzi minisubmachine-guns and the South African military-issue R5 automatic carbines, which are manufactured in South Africa.
40 ARMED GANG ATTACKS AGAINST FAMILIES INSIDE THEIR HOMES - EACH DAY...
Countrywide, such gangs carry out armed attacks on SA families inside their homes at the rate of 40 attacks a day, according to the latest SA police statistics - and most of these attacks occur in 'traditionally white' suburbs: The Durban-North policing area, where La Lucia is located, showed that there were 257 armed robberies, 692 burglaries at residential premises in this small region alone -- and 22 businesses were also attacked. There also were 39 violence-related unnatural deaths in this small area alone last year - eleven of which were recorded as 'murders' and others as 'culpible homicides'. 20081122 Frans Schumann, 48, killed in street outside Strand home - nothing robbed
Nov 24 Burger journalist reporter Jackie Pienaar-Brink reports that 48-year-old Afrikaner delivery-worker Frans Schumann was shot dead with a bullet in the back outside his home in Van der Stel Street, Strand, Western Cape. His car door was open and the keys were at his feet. Nothing was robbed. Neighbours saw two black men fleeing from the scene. His wife Annaline was at the neighbours when the shot rang out and heard their 16-year-old daughter Stefanie shouting in fear to her mom. Stefanie also rushed to lock the back door - which her father had exited from only moments earlier. He had arrived at around 10pm as usual from his job at Mr Delivery food outlet - and just five minutes later he was gunned down, she said. A spent 9mm cartridge was found at the murder scene. Family member Bertie van Wyk believes that the dead man was being watched and that his attackers knew that he arrived home around the same time every night from work. A year earlier neighbour Jurie Swart was robbed at knifepoint of the groceries he was carrying and stabbed. And Mrs Schumann's brother Jan Groenewald was also recently attacked in that same Stellenhof Street - but was chased off by a neighbour. Info: police capt. Nxumalo had shot out the tyre of a family's car while on his way to pick up Radebe -- causing a head-on collision that severely injured eight people.

Radebe claims such incidents are the motorists' fault. "I'm not condoning VIP driver's behaviour, but I have experienced rude behaviour from motorists.
"They seldom give way (for his screaming blue-light motorcades) and... show us rude signs. Others when they see us coming, speed up and then brake unexpectedly," he was quoted as saying. "Our drivers are trained to protect us. We are heading to elections and they need to ensure our safety. If a driver behaves like that, how do they know we are not being ambushed? 23 November 2008 An unnamed 27-year-old black police officer at the Railway unit will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday after he assaulted an Afrikaner motorist in Villieria, Pretoria, police said on Sunday. Police inspector Klaas van der Kooi confirmed that the pollice officer had first bumped the car -- driven by auditor Henk Griesel, 47 -- off the road - and then the (of duty?) cop pulled the Afrikaner auditor from his car and assaulted him, bashing three of his teeth out. The attack occurred on Friday around 6pm in Villieria, Pretoria. Van der Kooi said the officer was arrested shortly after eyewitnesses called the police. He was detained at the Villieria police station overnight. Mr Griesel was taken by an ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was still recovering, van der Kooi said. This was the second such attack by a policeman this past week. KwaZulu-Natal social welfare MEC Meshack Radebe's VIP-unit police bodyguard, constable Hlanganani Nxumalo was also currently facing eight attempted murder charges.

Nov 21 2008 VEREENIGING -- Beeld journalist Sonja van Buul has good news to report today: Charmaine Pienaar, 19 is walking again, just seven weeks after she was believed to have been paralysed when she and her mother, Heila, were viciously attacked by an axe-wielding invader of their home.Her mom died in the smallholding attack, purportedly by an illegal African migrant who has been arrested. And doctors had feared that Charmaine would never walk again. She had a fractured skull, a splintered cheekbone and a broken jaw after the attack at the family's scrapyard business in Waldrift. Heila, 41, was hacked to death by their attacker -- and the seriously injured Charmaine was left lying next to her mother's body for hours before help arrived. She had eleven hours of surgery and doctors had little hope that she'd ever walk again.Yet there she was, on her 19th birthday on 26 October, standing on her feet for the first time." The man suspected of the attack has meanwhile been refused bail. 20081118 (Nr 3,014): Unnamed white woman executed at computer, Blue Hills smallholding, Midrand - nothing robbed
Nov 19 2008 Beeld journalist Herman Scholtz reports that an unnamed white woman was shot in the head execution-style while working at her computer at the Blue Hills smallholding near Midrand. Police Insp. Mmakgomo Semone said an unknown number of attackers had ripped the security entrance gate off its rails to break into the secured smallholding. Emergency service Netcare 911-spokesman Nick Dollman said they received the call at 00:48 and came across the unknown smallholder's body. She was alone in the homestead. Nothing was robbed. Nov 19 2008 Beeld journalist Buks Viljoen reports that the body of 64-year old Mrs Daphné Wilkes (64) was found in her bathroom, slaughtered in the most gruesome way. Police spokesman Captain Eddie Hall said the white woman who lived alone, was 'badly assaulted, bashed in the face repeatedly, and stabbed at least ten times with a knife.' Her attackers stabbed her with so much strength and violence that the butcher's knife had sliced through her neck. Nov 19 2008 Beeld journalist Fanie van Rooyen reports that 22-year-old Stephan van Staden of Queenswood in Pretoria was left a paraplegic after armed attackers invaded their home during supper-time and shot him in the chest. The bullet penetrated is spine. His mom Francis van Staden said: 'My child will probably never walk again. Afrikaner capt. Pottie and wife Joey Potgieter targetted in racist smear-campaign by black Badplaas cops, local ANC/SACP leaders:
Nov 19 2008 Beeld journalist Buks Viljoen reports that Capt Pottie Potgieter and his wife Joey, both stationed at the Badplaas police station, are being targetted in a vicious smear-campaign conducted via an 'unofficial newsletter' by an unnamed accuser. Yesterday, police captain Pottie Potgieter said these smear- allegations against him and his wife, (accusing them of theft and using police resources for their own use), has forced them to lodge a charge of intimidation and crimen injuria against the nameless writer of the 'newsletter', which is called "The Covener". Its ominous mystery-author describes himself as 'a son of the soil', a 'philosopher' and says he's 'poisonous if anyone gets in his way...' Police spokesman supt. Sibongile Nkosi confirmed that an investigation team of the police's labour-relations department has also been appointed to investigate charges of "racism and intimidation" against the white police officers. 20081117 Henk Albertyn, 44, murdered Donkerhoek smallholding Pretoria Loot: 1 pistol
Nov 18 2008 With yesterday's murder of Afrikaner smallholder Henk Albertyn, Crime Busters of South Africa have recorded 3,013 murders of rural Afrikaners who have died in these mysterious 'farm attacks' since 1994. Beeld journalist Daniel Maluleke reports that Henk Albertyn, (left) 44-year-old father of two boys, was murdered at his smallholding in Donkerhoek near Pretoria on Nov 17 2008 while he was working on his computer. The only item which was looted was his gun. All the other valuables, such as his computer, were left untouched.Four armed men (black) broke through a glass door, gunned the Afrikaner down and then left again. Apparently they took his pistol but nothing else.
And this was only three days after the new minister of safety and security Nathi Mthethwa (right) prayed with Rev Willem Pretorius of the Kameeldrift Dutch Reformed Church (picture) -- and had solemnly promised the besieged Afrikaner smallholders of greater Pretoria that 'these farm attacks would be wiped out tooth and nail... ' Wife Karlien (photograph left: on her wedding day twelve years ago), 40, and the couple's two young sons Altus, 7 and Bram, 4, were asleep when the shots rang out. She ordered the boys to wrap themselves into a duvet and hide in the bathroom; alerted the police, ambulance, 
neighbours and family. When she reached her husband he was still alive - but he died enroute to the hospital in the ambulance, with his brother Schalk and neighbour Willie van der Schyff desperately trying to stop the bleeding. Brother Schalk (Beeld pic, left) is furious with police. "They just sort of stood around on the erf here, instead of immediately trying to chase down those criminals. 20081115 Christo Jordaan, murdered inside Kraaifontein home - nothing robbed.
Nov 16 2008 KRAAIFONTEIN. (Note- This murder was not included in our 'farm attack' statistics since it occurred in a town. However the modus operandus was identical- ajs.) Beeld journalist Sonja van Buul reports that 41-year-old Afrikaner wage-earner Christo Jordaan and father of 3 was murdered by two black male gunmen during an armed attack inside their Kraaifontein home on Friday-evening. Present were his wife Koekoes, daughter Nicolene (22), and son Ruan (13). His daughter pleaded with him: 'daddy, daddy please don't die. We love you...' while he was dying. His other daughter Monique, 20, was at work.
Mrs Jordaanwas in the kitchen, busy with the laundry when she turned around and looked into the barrel of a handgun pointed at her face by a (black) man. (The SA news media is not allowed to mention the race of any of the people involved but we have established from our own sources that he was a young black man-ajs). Another black man also entered the kitchen and went directly to the TV-room where Ruan was watching TV with his father. The gunman fired at Mr Jordaan at once - however the unarmed Mr Jordaan slapped away the attacker's gun-hand, and the first shot went into a wall. Thirteen-year-old Ruan was then able to run and hide behind the bar counter while his father waged a desperate battle with the gunman with his bare hands -- pushing the young black man into the hallway in an effort to get him out of the house and away from his family. "He was using brute force to try and get the man out of the house,' said his wife afterwards. The Afrikaner managed to push the gunman all the way down the hall and into the kitchen -- but there the other gunman awaited him -- and both black attackers then fired at Jordaan simultaneously before fleeing. KRUGERSDORP, Kromdraai AH - Nov 13 2008 - Jack Hewitt, 61, owner of the Kenjara Lodge at Kromdraai, and a friend Ronnie Roberts, 50, were seriously injured by two armed attackers on Nov 12 2008. Pictured here is Mrs Sarah Edwards, 25 year old stepdaughter of Mr Hewitt. The armed attackers were clearly targetting for the owner: firing one shot straight at the unarmed Hewitt where he was seated in his chair at another table. In the melee her husband Wally, 46, grabbed their babygirl Louise and fled outside while the attackers continued to fire a volley of shots towards the fleeing guests. The robbers tore the cash-register from the wall, grabbed Mrs Hewitt's handbag and fled. 2008113 Three Boekenhoutsfontein, Pretoria smallholdings attacked: community launches patrols, nobody injured - no loot: stolen car was abandoned
Nov 13 2008 Virginia Keppler, Beeld newspaper, reports that police suspect that the same group of farm-attackers were responsible for three seperate house-invasions at three smallholdings in Boekenhoutskloof. ...Distraught family with 5-yr-old daughter forced to wait for more than 13 hours before police responded to their calls for help. Mr Maritz suffered panga-cuts to his head and arm. He 's in serious condition at hospital. There's no report that anything was stolen.

20081110 Murderers of Pretoria BMW branch manager Manie Maritz 15 July 2007 get life - loot: 1 cellphone
Nov 10 2008 -- Brothers Coen, left and Louw Maritz at the Pretoria High Court where two black men, Frans Mthabesita, 26, and Patric Sithole, 36, were sentenced to a lifetime in prison for murdering their brother, BMW branch manager Manie Maritz, 47. Maritz was gunned down in an ambush in front of his handicapped daughter on 15 July 2007 at their rural-setting home in Constantia Park, Pretoria Acting judge Vivian Tlhapi said 'nothing can be so cruel as to be attacked by two armed men when returning home and then be murdered in cold blood.' The only thing robbed was a cellphone. 20081110 Elma Burger, 72, murdered, Montagu smallholding- Farm Murder Nr 3,011 since 1994 loot: one cellphone
November 11 2008 Police have arrested two males, 17 and 18, on two farms in Montague in connection with the murder of a 72-year-old Montagu (Western Cape) grandmother, Mrs Elma Burger.The 17-year-old appeared at Montagu magistrate's court for a remand date.The 18-year- old man was still being questioned. It is believed they were the same young men who had already attacked the elderly Afrikaner widow at her smallholding several months earlier. Her daughter said her parents had lived on the farm, Tertia, about 30km outside Montague, their entire married lives since 1960 - and had raised their two children there. The re-arrested 17-year-old had been caught red-handed robbing the farm in early September, but had been released by police. Mr Burger had died of an heart attack only six weeks ago while her mother was in hospital. The only stolen item: one cellphone.
20082220 Paarl property owner Fred Abrahams, 79, strangled to death, Klein Drakenstein Avenue home in Paarl East.
The property owner was found by his son with his hands and feet tied together and apparently strangled with a tie.

The businessman and publisher who, for nearly three decades, "fought against anti-competitive behaviour" between companies and first exposed the monopolistic structure of the South African economy was stabbed to death in a robbery at his Tulbagh home. It's not known if anything was looted.A week earlier, the bodies of 78-year-old Schalk van der Westhuizen and his 72-year-old wife, Marie, were found in their rural Kleinmond home on August 4 - also after returning from church, as Mrs Burger had done this past weekend. Three suspects were arrested for the McGregor murder and two for the murders of the Van der Westhuizen couple, who were close family of top Cape Town TV show presenter Minki van der Westhuizen. 20081109 Afrikaner athlete Theresa Matthysen semi-paralysed from knifing by black spectators during PE marathon - Afrikaner marathon runner Theresa Matthysen, 42 will have to learn to walk again after some of the "spectators" in the black Walmer township knifed her in a racist frenzy. Afterwards, none of the blacks in the throng helped her: they just watched the paralysed, bleeding Afrikaner woman... She was running in the "Algoa Bus Challenge" . The Afrikaner woman was stabbed three times in the back with a knife -- and then they ripped off her watch and her running shoes. They singled out the white woman - none of the other athletes were attacked. This is the second time a white woman marathon runner was attacked in the past four months: Susan Hurter, 46, was also attacked in the Washie 100-mile-ultramarathon between Port Alfred and East London. Miss Hurter was grabbed by her pony-tail dragged her off the road in an apparent rape attempt. She freed herself. In Matthysen's case the attackers stabbed her from behind - emerging from a large crowd of spectators lining the road. She was attacked while running through this throng of black males - and after the stabbing, nobody helped her while she lay there, bleeding and paralysed:: all the blacks just stood and watched as she was left bleeding in the road. Instead two marathon runners who drove past after finishing their relay helped stop the bleeding and got an ambulance. Nov 7 2008 - COLIGNY - Beeld journalist Linda de Beer reports that Afrikaner farm-wife Hannatjie Stander, 67, fought like a lioness after her husband Sias, 69, was stabbed to death by farm attackers on Friday-morning. Police believe the sole motive was revenge: the murdered farmer had been scheduled for a magistrate's court hearing on Monday Nov 10 2008 to testify against two men who had assaulted him near his barn in December last year. The elderly wife had twelve stabwounds but still shot dead one attacker and presumably, also injured another one with shots fired from her small .22 revolver. Mrs Stander used to be the long-time secretary of the local Coligny Farmers' Association. Her husband was a leading Brahman-stud farmer in the area. Within hours, police arrested three attackers, pictured left at the Coligny magistrate's court on Nov 10 2008. 
Ernest Vilakazi, 34. was named as the attacker who had been shot dead by Mrs Stander in self-defence. The three arrested Shangaan-speaking men are Samuel Katgetla, 26; Sergio Masibela, 26, of Mozambique and Patrick Malebo, 28. Their trial starts Nov 14 2008. It's not known if badly traumatised, injured Mrs Stander will now be arrested and charged with murder. Nov 7 2008 40-year-old Afrikaner farmer Flip Minnie was shot dead execution style in his bed at the Rooikoppies homestead, near Brits, north of Pretoria by four armed black men. They didn't get a lot for their trouble: just some $18 cash, a plasma-TV, bankcards and cellphones. They left all the other valuables inside the house untouched although they could have emptied the place out at their leasure. As they crashed in through the window, they asked for the farmer by name, forced his son Philip, 14, at gunpoint to take them to the land-owner's bedroom, where the sleeping farmer was killed execution style.The farmer's son was watching TV at around 1:45am when the gang broke into the well-secured homestead, crawling underneath the electrified fencing. On Monday, Nov 3 2008, Brink Botha, 53-year-old farmer from Mamogaleskraal in Brits, north of Pretoria, was shot and killed during a struggle with three armed attackers who were breaking into his homestead after they poisoned six of the family dogs. The well-known boerbull breeder was shot twice in the chest while trying to stop the attackers from climbing in through the window. Wife Christell was still rushing to the (government-registered) gun-safe where whites now are required to keep their legal firearms by law, when the attackers grabbed her. They weren't interested in robbing the valuable guns in the safe: they left these behind: they had already done what they came for: kill the Afrikaner man with their own highpowered illegal guns. Their "loot": a mere $20 in cash... South African police call these attcks 'armed robberies'. As they always do, the murder gang fled in the farmer's car, which was found abandoned down the road. The police were helpful only with advice: they said the 'robbers' had apparently crawled beneath the electrified fence'.
