Lesbian South African taunted with rape-threat during robbery

He threatened to ‘fix her by raping her’ – even offering to use a condom:

Herman Scholtz of Beeld newspaper writes that one of two robbers who attacked Mrs Patricia Hattingh, 22, at her Haakdooringboom smallholding near Onderstepoort in Pretoria North, threatened to rape her to 'set her right' when he found out she was a lesbian: she had told the men that she wanted to phone her lover to say goodbye after she was told that she was going to die.
For an hour, the busdriver was taunted by this man while his comrade searched the homestead for money and weapons, she told the Afrikaans newspaper.
"Are you scared of AIDS? I will use a condom. So why can't I just do you...' he kept on taunting her while she was tied up on her bed.
She was attacked at 11:45am just when she was on her way out on her motorbike to her job at a private company.
"I had just walked to my bedroom to get cigarettes. I was talking on my cellphone and when I switched it off, a man was standing there with a gun pointed into my face.

"He grabbed my cellphone and put it in his pant's pockets. I asked him for my SIM-card back and he threw it on the floor' When she asked for her memory card as well, he yelled: “Shut up or I’ll kill you!”
- They looted a plasma-TV, DVD-player and –radio. Strangely, most of her stolen items were found dumped in the veldt next her homestead by police afterwards.
They also asked her about the whereabouts of 'the other people in the house next door' - her parents. "I just sat there and prayed that they wouldn't kill me. They threw a jacket over my head and said I had to sleep.
- Then they said that they were going to kill me. I replied that "I just wanted to make a farewell call to my lover, then I could die', she said.
Their behaviour was very erratic: while they were taunting about fixing her lesbianism by raping her, they also lit a cigarette for the woman, who was hog-tied on her bed. Then they also cursed her, and threatened to kill her for ‘not fixing her car so they could steal that too.’
Apparently, they eventually got tired of taunting her, assaulted her pregnant home-worker, and then went next door to break into her parents' house.
Mrs Hattingh managed to get loose from the plastic cables she'd been hogtied with, and called her life-partner Mrs Angelina Carrega (30), a bus-driver at the Pretoria metropolitian council.
- Mrs Carrega was driving a bus in Brooklyn when she got the call. She told Beeld she 'dropped the passengers right there in Brooklyn and called her depot, telling them there was 'sh.t' at her house.
Now here's the strangest part of all: police found most of the 'stolen' electronic goods in the veldt near the homestead. They were following up many new clues yesterday, they said, but thus far, no suspects had been arrested.
