Afrikaner dad killed in racist assault: 4 Pakistani men in court

20090606 Andries Pieters was murdered in ‘racist attack’ after Steve Hofmeyr concert, Brakpan, observers say
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa. June 9 2009. Andries Pieters, manager at Imperial Bank and former Transvaal rugby-player, pictured with wife Lizette and son Keanu (5), was allegedly murdered in a ‘cruel and senseless’ attack by four “Pakistani’ men just after he, his wife and two friends had left an exclusive Saturday-night concert by the pro-Afrikaans campaigner/singer Steve Hofmeyr at the Carnival City casino in Brakpan on June 6.
Observers say it is highly likely that the entire attack was racially/politically motivated, and that the alleged Pakistani attackers had deliberately taunted the Afrikaners as they were leaving the concert.
The original story in Afrikaans was reported by Beeld journalist Gloria Edwards.
Pieters (39), apparently was attacked by four men who also allegedly had hurled gross insults at his wife, it is being reported. The four men, described as ‘Pakistanis’, allegedly kicked and hit him until the Afrikaner dad fell into a coma. He was admitted with massive brain damage to the Union Hospital in Alberton. He died on Monday when the family agreed to turn off the life-support machines after doctors had declared him brain-dead.
Mrs Pieters had apparently been forced to watch in helpless fear while her husband was allegedly being kicked and beaten into a coma by the four men. Observers say there seems little doubt that the murder was racially and politically motivated.
Political aspects of Hofmeyr concerts:
The very outspoken Hofmeyr ‘s concert in Brakpan was an exclusive launch of his “Neil Diamond, Beauiful Noise Reunion’ CD for which only 300 tickets had been made available at the Brakpan venue. Hofmeyr is widely known for his very active campaign to help empoverished Afrikaners, and for his public defence of Afrikaner cultural rights.
By coincidence, both the murdered man and Hofmeyr, right in a picture from his blog, are blue-eyed, tall blonde Afrikaner men of similar age and size, and also bear a striking resemblance to one another.
Four suspects back in Brakpan court on 17 June
Police superintendent Sefako Xaba of Gauteng told the newspaper that the charges against the four “Pakistani” men, Mohammed Jabban (21), Raadhil Omar (19), Naheed Khan (21) and Nihal Khan (18) were changed from culpible assault to murder after Mr Pieters died in hospital on Monday. All four were remanded in police custody until 17 June, when they were ordered to appear in the same court for their bail application. Mr Pieters’ burial will take place on Thursday 11 June at the Dutch Reformed Church Dalpark, Brakpan from 2pm. It’s not known at this stage whether they are Pakistani citizens, or South Africans of Pakistani-origin.
Mrs Phia Miller, 44, the murdered man’s sister, said her brother, his wife and two friends attended a concert by the popular Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr while little Keanu spent the night with his grandparents. “We are totally in the dark as to why this could have happened,’ she told the newspaper. “Lizette isn’t in any kind of condition yet to tell us exactly what happened. We only know this group of men apparently ‘chirped’ (taunted, were sexually abusive towards, dhimmi behaviour by muslim men towards non-believers) the Afrikaans women, Andries reacted and objected, after which the four men assaulted him together’.
She said Pieters came from a widely-respected Afrikaner sporting-family, with his granddad Piet Bosman, also involved in rugby, even having the local Bosman stadium in Brakpan named after him. Mr Pieters leaves his parents Anette and Willie Oosthuizen, brothers Casper Pieters, 42, Roelof Oosthuizen, 30, and Pierre Pieters, 21.

Trial of five Muslims in Umbilo restaurant massacre of 3 Afrikaners starts July 27 2009 in Durban
This is not the first time that ‘whites’ have been attacked, injured and/or killed in race-related actions by Muslims in South Africa. Five “South African-Indian” men - including two local on-duty police officers -- were also arrested after a massacre at an Umbilo, Durban restaurant. The men were arrested by a special police task-force because two were on-duty police officers who had become involved in an allegedly racist executiion-style shooting, and were first charged on November 13 2008 at the Durban Magistrate's court. Five unarmed Afrikaner men were gunned down execution-style, allegedly also with police pistols at the restaurant. Three -- Nick Janse van Rensburg, 57, Shawn Strydom, 33, and Rory Menzies, 40, died on the scene. while two others, Shawn and Bruce Edwards, were injured.

The crime scene was described by the restaurant's security guards as a 'gruesome slaughterhouse' and the patrons of the pub and the adjacent restaurants owners and patrons were left deeply traumatised and needed trauma-treatment after the massacre. Umbilo is a primarily 'white-' dominated suburb in KwaZulu-Natal. It was also said to be ‘very unusual for Muslim men to visit this pub’. The following day five Muslim men, including two policemen brothers, appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court on three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
- Charged were Police Inspector Samuel Steven, 39, of Point police station; Police Inspector Leon Steven, 33, of Mayville police station; local residents Naeem Sadick, 22; Nithanandan Ganess, 37, and Julian Naidoo, 33; who ‘stood confidently in the dock” the news media wrote at the time. Police: ‘One suspect went to the toilet and taunted the white man about his penis size…’
- The five South African muslim men were arrested by a special police task-force in the Indian suburb of Phoenix. Police told the news media after the arrest that ‘one of the suspects had followed a white man into the toilet and taunted him about his penis and this started the chain of events’. All this testimony still must be heard in court, at which time the entire story will hopefully become much clearer.
Murdered family man Menzies leaves four orphaned children:
Journalist Kamini Padayachee of the Natal Mercury newspaper Kamini.padayachee@inl.co.za interviewed relatives of one of the three white men who were murdered, noting that Menzies's four children were left orphaned and that the children, aged from 13 to 21 years, were devastated by his death. "The children lost their mother to illness a short while ago and now they are orphans. They are all very traumatised." Alan Roberts was stabbed to death inside a Northdene, Queensburgh restaurant on December 31 2005. Roberts had taken his wife and daughters to the restaurant to see in the New year. His wife and daughters were dancing when a gang of six Indians started sexually harassing them. They walked away to another dance floor elsewhere in the restaurant, but the drunken muslims followed them. Alan, while seated at his table, then witnessed one of them grabbing the crotch of his teenage daughter (Bianca, 12) and confronted them, upon which they drew knives and stabbed the hapless white father to death in front of his family. Leigh Matthews, 21 year old daughter of Rob and Sharon Matthews was abducted on 9 July 2004 by a Muslim man, Donovan Moodley from the campus of Bond University in Sandton. Moodley demanded (and received) a ransom of R 50,000 after which he humiliated the gorgeous girl by having her strip naked, after which he cold-bloodedly shot her execution style. Mathilda Sinden, a white Afrikaner girl from Witpoortjie on the West Rand who got married to the Indian Erefaan Khan she'd met on an SMS dating service – and changed her name to the Muslim “Malika” after her marriage in Cape Town – was forced to flee after he became violent and abusive, returning to her parents' home. Khan pursued her, robbing and murdering her by strangulation and stabbing her fifteen times on the floor of her parent’s home in January 2005. Khan was arrested but it is unknown what, if any, outcome of the trial was;

Naidoo coerced the two White kids. telling them that “God wanted their parents dead”. The co-murderers of Bridget Cairns, 70 - Cassandra De Vos (22), and her husband, the Indian-South African Liyaqath “Lee” Ahroon (29) who in a remarkable similarity to the Mathilda Sinden case, was another White Afrikaner girl who married an Indian Muslim. They lived in a garden cottage on the Parkmore, Sandton premises of the White pensioner victim Bridget Cairns. Cairns became upset at the filth and squalor in the garden cottage, as well as their repeated failure to pay rent. Cairns also became aware that items were being stolen from her home. She confronted them, after which the multi-racial couple decided to murder the old woman. In October 2006, they attacked the 70 year old Mrs Cairns and savagely beat her to death. Next, they shoved her into her car’s boot and drove about 200 km to a spot outside Evander in the Eastern Transvaal. Here, they poured petrol over her and burned her. They drove to another spot about 1km away and then set fire to the woman’s car. The outcome of the trial is unknown;

On 20 January 2006, Lauren Sleep and her friend Liesel Schoonwinkel stayed over at a cottage rented by work colleague Chad Khan in Pretoria West. All three were employees of Rovos Rail. Lauren was in a sexual relationship with Khan. At some point, Lauren and Khan had a spirited argument. Khan then left the two women but returned much later that night and tried to have sex with Lauren. She rebuffed him, after which he raped and murdered her. Next, he went to the room where Liesel Schoonwinkel was sleeping and tried to rape her as well. She resisted, after which Khan savagely stabbed her and tried to slit her throat. She miraculously survived. Khan then went on the run, and in spite of the families of Liesel and Lauren hiring private investigators to track him down, he remains free. There is speculation that Khan is hiding in Swaziland or Malawi and is being assisted by members of his family. His father was a local Independent Democrats councillor in Pretoria. Since Lauren's murder, Marilyn said they have had to call the police for updates in the case. And as the months have passed, those calls became fewer as their confidence in the police diminished. Shortly after Lauren's murder, the Sleeps hired private investigator Ettienne Groenewald to apprehend Khan. Groenewald tracked Khan to Swaziland and Malawi. It was thought that Khan had slipped across the border with the help of an aunt, a disguise and a false passport. There was at least one raid on a house in Swaziland, but Khan wasn't found. Groenewald attempted to broker a deal with Khan's family, but it fell through and the hunt fizzled out. "Regarding the private investigator, we came to a point where we had to say 'enough'. In August 2008 in Fourways, near the elite suburb of Sandton north of Johannesburg, three muslim-Indians stalked white women in the car parks of Fourways (Sandton) shopping centres. They would grab a white woman as she walked to her car, abduct her, gangrape her elsewhere and then dump her naked and traumatised in black townships like Pretoria's Atteridgeville. Jawaad Abubaker and Kishen Naidoo, along with a third unnamed youth were finally arrested after several incidents of rape and abduction.

South Africa’s Brave New World – R W Johnson
This is the book which has turned famed South African historian R W Johnson into Public Enemy Nr. One with the ANC-regime. In his new book, South Africa’s Brave New World, the Beloved Country Since the End of Apartheid ,” he describes the universal jubilation that greeted Nelson Mandela's inauguration as president of South Africa in 1994 -- and the whole process by which apartheid had been banished.

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands. June 9 2009 -- Top South African criminologist Dr Johan Burger of the Institute for Security Studies , pictured second left at a German Chamber of Commerce crime seminar, has issued a stern warning to Dutch football fans attending the FIFA World Cup 2010 tournaments in his country: “don’t wear orange when you’re out on the town, because you will run extra risks of criminal robbers who are known to target foreign tourists’.

Dr Johan Burger, author of the authoritative book ‘Strategic perspectives on crime and policing in South Africa’ , is a senior researcher in the crime and justice programme at the ISS and a former Assistant Commissioner in the South African Police Service. He is also a lecturer in policing at the Pretoria University of Technology’s Department of Safety and Security Management. South Africa’s top crime expert’s warnings however drew immediate denial from an executive member of the Royal Dutch Football League. Bert van Oostveen, left, oranje@knvb.nl who was quoted as saying that ‘South Africa was being portrayed far too much as a country which would be dangerous for football supporters’.

“Let’s stop these horror scenarios,’ Van Oostveen told the Algemeen Dagblad – only a week before his and other top Dutch football league executives’ fourth fact-finding trip to South Africa. The top football honchos will inform themselves by speaking to Dutch embassy personnel and the ministry of foreign affairs during their tour and ‘while security will be a talking point,’ he was quoted as saying, the crime stories from South Africa also are blown out of all proportion…

The front-page story in the Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad also quoted Burger’s detailed advice to Dutch fans to be extra careful and on page 3, they also published a map of the crime rates in each city where the WC2010 tournaments will be played.
Dr Burger is widely recognised as South Africa’s top criminologist, and is a former deputy-police commissioner with years of experience in the field of criminology.
- “I can understand very well that football fans want to dress themselves up in the team colours. But the Dutch fans, in their bright orange, are very visible targets. Inside the stadium of course it does no harm, and enroute to and from the stadiums there’s no avoiding wearing the supporters’ clothing. However when you go out on the town at night, don’t wear your bright orange. That will no doubt draw the immediate attention of criminal gangs. They know that foreigners carry lots of valuables with them. So after each game, go back to your hotel, dress yourselves in neutral clothing,’ he was quoted in Algemeen Dagblad.
Dutch fans to travel in armed convoys between venues:
The superbly-fit Dutch football team this weekend became the first European team to qualify for the WC2010 tournaments in South Africa. It’s generally expected that about 10,000 Dutch supporters will travel with the team in South Africa next year. These tickets are sold in blocks to travel agents and Dutch amateur football clubs and arrangements have already been made to have the fans travel enmasse between venues in busses under the protection of armed private security convoys.
South Africa ‘a bit different than Switserland or Germany….’
Van Oostveen was quoted in the Algemeen Dagblad as saying that ‘things weren’t nearly as dangerous in South Africa as was being portrayed in the news media. South Africa is a bit different than Switserland or Germany, and Johannesburg isn’t like Nijmegen. However during our investigative visit next week, security will be a subject of discussion… But let’s stop these horror scenarios…’
The Algemeen Dagblad – whose sports journalists have been warning about the violence in South Africa for several years now – clearly does not agree with this assessment by this top Dutch football official.
Most recent SA crime statistics date from 2007/8:
Indeed they have thus far been the only European newspaper to publish a huge map highlighting all the violence in the country in each of the individual cities where the tournaments are taking place, citing from the old 2007 South African police statistics. The 2008 crime statistics have not thus far been published and the South African police are not allowed to publish up-to-date week-by-week crime statistics. In other words, nobody really knows the very latest, up-to-date crime statistics, not even the nation’s top criminologist Dr Johan Burger…
In their story, headlined: “Criminality: Orange supporters in South Africa must watch themselves…’ their journalist Niels Dekker writes that the ‘South African crime statistics are impressively alarming. The number of murders are 38 per 100,000 residents, for instance. Compared to the Netherlands, one murder per 100,000; Germany, 4 murders per 100,000…’ He cites the ‘horrifying increase in the number of armed robberies in homes and businesses, and the out-of-control number of hijackings of residents at red traffic lights’.
He quotes Johan Burger as saying that ‘criminality has dropped by a quarter over the past five years’. Howver, says Burger, that was mainly due to the fact that the police budget was increased, and the number of policemen was boosted by 55,000 to 185,000, and police are better equipped and trained than before..’
However, Burger also warned that the violent crime was a massive problem in South Africa, and that the crime levels were still ‘very serious, very high’.
‘South Africa is a bit of a banana-republic…’
While the Dutch football league manager Van Oostveen was in denial about the South African crime epidemic however, even when they were submitted by South Africa’s top criminologist, the international football league FIFA which hosts the tournaments, is indeed taking the matter much more seriously – especially after FIFA president Sepp Blatter's daughter was allegedly attacked while touring the country, the journalist writes.

And Dutch travel agents also are concerned, writes Algemeen Dagblad, quoting spokesman Gert-Jan Steltman of VCK Travel, which books special FIFA-arrangements for Dutch companies, being quoted as saying that ‘the world football league has set very strict security demands, because South Africa is a bit of a banana-republic…’
One of the best-known Dutch fans, Winfried Witjes of Elst, (click on picture left for more details and the name of the photographer) – and who is dubbed ‘the general’ because of his striking cap, initially told the AD-journalist that he ‘wasn’t scared of the crime’, and that he ‘intended to walk right through’ the centres of Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg in his bright-orange outfits. “I know all those stories about pickpockets, but I also hear positive stories,’ he told AD’s journalist.
However when Dekker confronted him with these warnings issued by South Africa’s top crime expert, the ‘Orange General” did get a bit of a fright and promised to follow Burger’s advice to the letter. “I won’t take any risks with my life,’ he said – adding however that the other ‘orange fans’ may not take such advice as seriously as he was going to do: “None of those Dutchmen will take off their orange clothes,’ said the ‘Orange General’.
Whites more likely to be murdered during armed robberies in South Africa:
Dr Burger also recently revealed from his research that whites were much more likely to be murdered during armed robberies in South Africa. White South Africans in suburbs such as Sandton have been affected by the 2008 13.5% rise in house robberies and associated crime. Senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Dr. Johan Burger, said that criminals were specifically targeting "richer" suburbs. Burger noted that more well-off suburbs are usually surrounded by poorer residential areas and that inhabitants in the latter often target inhabitants in the former. This also was due to a culture of entitlement complex that such criminals often have; "They feel they are entitled to take from those who have a lot". Institute for security studies Dr Johan Burger: author of the authorative book ‘Strategic perspectives on crime and policing in South Africa’ , is a senior researcher in the crime and justice programme at the ISS and a former Assistant Commissioner in the South African Police Service. Whites targetted more by criminals in South Africa says Dr Burger:
- White South Africans in suburbs such as Sandton have been affected by the 2008 13.5% rise in house robberies and associated crime. Senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Dr. Johan Burger, said that criminals were specifically targeting "richer" suburbs. Burger noted that more well-off suburbs are usually surrounded by poorer residential areas and that inhabitants in the latter often target inhabitants in the former. This also was due to a culture of entitlement complex that such criminals often have; "They feel they are entitled to take from those who have a lot". This report also found that residents in wealthier suburbs in Gauteng were more risk of being targeted by violent criminals, and also were more likely to be murdered during such armed robberies.http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/News/0,,2-7-1442_2350492,00.html
