‘Mob of screaming kids hooked on heroin ran at me... I thought I was going to get jumped…’

Jan 25 2010 – Johannesburg. The Sun newspaper in the UK reports that its ‘page 3 beauty Amii Grove ’was chased from a South African park ‘by a gang of wild-eyed kids whacked on heroin.’ The newspaper reports that Amii, ‘on-off flame of footballer Jermaine Pennant” was working on a forthcoming BBC documentary to ‘explore the grimmer side of the country’ and had gone to a Johannesburg park were drug-addicted youths were known to hang out. She was looking for one specific 17-year-old named Kolino.
Amii, 24, photographed with Jermaine Pennant, left, on this picture in The Sun newspaper, said: "I made the mistake of wearing a bright orange tracksuit so I stuck out like a sore thumb. Kids were coming towards me shouting. They saw the cameras and were screaming at me and the crew not to film them. It was really frightening and there was real tension in the air. I thought I was going to get jumped."
Amii's scare came while she worked at a boys' shelter in Johannesburg. She was sent to look for lads addicted to heroin - in particular a 17-year-old called Kolina. The model said: "We were in a park where we were told loads of drug addicts hung out. We found Kolina living under a bridge.He was sniffing glue as well as taking heroin. He was out of his face and had been living rough. But I managed to convince him to go to rehab and now he's doing OK. I keep in touch so I can find out what happens to him."
Amii was with Chantelle Tagoe, Emile Heskey's partner, Ellie Darby, girlfriend of Matthew Upson, Elen Rivas, Frank Lampard's ex, and Imogen Thomas, former girlfriend of Jermaine Defoe.
All mucked in with volunteers working for charities, including two in Johannesburg's notorious Soweto township. Amii said: "We slept where the volunteers slept, in bunk beds most of the time. "I thought I was used to cramped conditions, having grown up in a council house as one of eight children, but nothing prepared me for that."
The shocking conditions the girls found will be highlighted in the documentary - working title Wags Hit South Africa - to be screened this summer.
Amii said: "I like to think I'm pretty tough but nothing prepared me for how terrible it is for people in South Africa. Rape, HIV, drug addiction, enforced prostitution - you name a problem and the poor people there have it. There is nothing remotely glamorous about living in a South African slum. I don't mind admitting it brought tears to my eyes. We worked at shelters where young kids would come in with HIV and Aids. Every other girl I spoke to said she was raped. I heard it a hundred times. I met a girl called Asaville, who was 13 and working as a prostitute to feed her young brother. She was raped by a man who had HIV. She said: "At the World Cup everyone will focus on the glamour and what the Wags are wearing. "The trip was hard work and I had a lot of broken nails. But it made me appreciate my money and comfort." ATM blast-robberies in Brits show cops’ involvement
Two cops, two miners, two ATMS and R480,000 loot
Monday 25 January 2010 MAGALIES/BRITS . “If Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were to investigate the ATM explosion-robberies in our area, Holmes would have said: “It’s elementary my dear Watson, the CCTV evidence clearly indicates that two experienced policemen and two highly skilled explosives experts have been involved in this one,” writes Dolf Dreyer, editor of Madibeng Pulse online newspaper for the Magalies/Brits/Hartbeespoort region.
An ATM attack is legally defined as the “unlawful and intentional causing of damage to an automatic teller machine or any part thereof, with the intent to obtain cash, through any means whatsoever, with specific inclusion of the use of explosives.”
This “one” is the blow-up of the ATM around 01:00 on Friday morning at the Excel garage in van der Hoff Road, just round the corner from the Oos Moot Dutch Reformed Church. This deduction is made from CCTV footage of the robbery showing four men in balaclavas and using a white Volkswagen Golf without number plates as a getaway car. The men were armed with an R5 assault rifle, which are only issued to policemen, and two revolvers. The expert way in which two of the men handled the explosives, suggested to Holmes that they’re either miners or former miners, and in past robberies it was found that the explosives used, were in daily use at the mines in the area. It’s highly likely that the crime started with the theft of the explosives from the mine where they work, used to work or have criminal connections.
The robbers had a hard night’s work and earned R480,000 in loot…
Just as expert were the two men who protected the two miners; the whole operation from the arrival of the robbers to their departure at high speed in the white golf, took only a few minutes. The four robbers were in a hurry because their night’s work was not over. There was another ATM, nearly full of money, waiting to be blown up at Themba. Later on Friday morning the ATM robbers blew up the machine at a shopping centre in Temba (Moretele).
Dr. Watson didn’t even need Holmes’ powers of deduction to assist him in working out why the four men had decided on the criminal path to quick cash - their haul was R80 000 at the Excel garage and a whopping R400 000 at Temba.
Their loot from just a few hours work in the early hours of Friday morning could be 15 to 20 times their combined yearly earnings as miners and policemen.

January 25 2010 – VILJOENSKROON -- The latest farm attack report comes from Viljoenskroon in the Free State, where this Afrikaner farm-wife with the first name of Theresa was attacked with a panga. His wife writes us:
“(the victim's )... name is Theresa and she is in her 40s. . There was only one attacker, a worker that she fired in December 2009. This happened at between 24:00 and 01:00 on 25 January 2010. She is currently in a very critical condition in the Wilmed Hospital in Klersdorp.”
“Nothing was stolen. No vehicles, jewellery or money. Thanks to the "fast" response of the police (1 hour later) and the ambulance (1 and a half hour later) she was taken to hospital in a very critical state. WOLMARANSSTAD, NW. Jan 22 2010 - Eleven people, including two police officers were arrested for being involved in a spate of bank and business robberies in Ventersdorp, Viljoenskroon, Orkney, Christiana and Wolmaransstad, the department of public safety said. "Eleven suspects including two senior policemen stationed at Wolmaransstad Police Station were arrested by the North West Provincial Organised Crime Task team," Lesiba Moses Kgwele said."The captain and inspector are alleged to have escorted members of the syndicate to and from targeted banks and businesses. In the event that alarms went off during break-ins, they would be nearby to mislead whoever responds to the alarm into believing that it was a false alarm." The suspects, most of whom are from Klerksdorp are linked to 15 bank and business break ins and in robberies. 2January 21 2010 - Bothaville, Free State. The Freedom Front Plus demands discliplinary action be undertaken against a traffic officer of Nala-municipality who had pulled over an Afrikaans woman driver from Pretoria on New Year’s Eve on the road between Viljoenskroon and Bothaville, pretended that she had committed a traffic-offense: and then told her that he ‘had always wanted to have a sexual experience with a white woman.’
The terrified woman – a widow – said she felt very trapped and afraid because the man had pulled her car over in a lonely, rural area of the road which was surrounded by maize-fields. After the incident – she was issued with a traffic citation for which she had to pay a fine -- the woman felt so unsafe about lodging a formal complaint of sexual harassment that she wrote a letter to Beeld newspaper, asking whether someone could assist her. The Freedom Front Plus party, which represents the Afrikaner voting community, was asked to assist – and the party has already been in touch with municipal officials about the matter, demanding an investigation into the traffic official’s behaviour, said provincial leader Abrie Oosthuizen.
Mr Oosthuizen also expressed concern about other reports regarding such incidents and asked that anyone who has experienced similar problems, to contact them directly. Kempton Park ratepayers besieged by armed gangs
’South Africans who remain silent about the crime-dangers at the WC2010 will have the blood of gullible tourists on their hands’ -- says crime victim Dr Hennie Barnard of Kempton Park, who writes:

Dr Barnard also wrote to Adriana Stuijt of Censorbugbear-Reports with more information, warning that Kempton Park’s ratepayers are under siege from armed criminal gangs and that the police clearly aren’t interested in solving these horrific crimes. The SAPS crime statistics confirm this: there were 98 murders/homicides; 291 robberies of families and businesses; and 3,000 armed street robberies between March 2008 and April 2009 – which are the last available SAPS statistics.
Dr Barnard writes: “Two months ago there was an armed robbery opposite the home of Dr Theuns Botha, two weeks ago Dr Herman Roodt and his family were targetted, Tuesday our family was attacked, and on Friday-night, Dr Kood van Staden was shot dead -- about three blocks away from our house.” Since 1994 jhis family has been targetted by several armed robberies, he was shot in the neck during a hijacking/kidnapping; they’ve had three break-ins and two frauds perpetrated against them. “And in all those cases, the police scored zero verus seven for the criminals, ’ he writes.
Dr Barnard wrote earlier in Beeld newspaper: “What is the true extent of the crime? The police statistics are unreliable because they are so easily manipulated.,.”

“For us to tell the tourists of our ‘great SAPS’ also isn’t justified: they will arrive to help out with touching displays of concern at the crime scenes or on the day of the crime – but they then become dead-silent afterwards.’
“Every one in South Africa must communicate all these crime facts they know about to all their friends and family outside the country. He also sent us an angry letter he ‘d also written to his local newspaper yesterday, writing: “ This is intended for all armed robbers and like-minded criminals who are terrorising the citizens of Kempton Park: We've been one of your victims the past week. During this ordeal, you have shown us exactly how you surprize and attack your innocent victims, what your strategies are, how you operate and gave us insights into the way you work. Thanks for that, because now we could put some plans of our own in place to in turn surprize you if this ever happens again - God forbids. If anyone ever enter our property again with the purpose to rob while holding the family at gunpoint, we will kill you. We will kill you all. I assume a public warning like this will be adequate for our protectors at SAPS as the criminals will never be able to deny that they've been properly warned.”

January 25 2010 – VILJOENSKROON, FREE STATE -- The latest farm attack report comes from Viljoenskroon in the Free State, where this Afrikaner farm-wife with the first name of Theresa, who was attacked with a panga. A Viljoenskroon neighbour who sent us this photograph of the victim while she was being stabilised for transportation to hospital, writes us:
