Report to Genocide Watch, USA about the Afrikaner/Boer genocide

March 10 2010 – By Adriana Stuijt -- As a retired SA journalist (ex-Sunday Times of Johannesburg and South African Press Association) I have been sending you regular reports on the so-named 'farm attacks' against "Boer farmers' in South Africa.

I now forward the updated list of names of murdered South African farm-dwellers since 1987 up to March 6 2010 - : http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/2010/02/name-lists-rural-murders-south-africa.html -- and which brings the death-toll from 1987 up to and including March 6 2010 to 3,146.

It is important to note that the official hate-speech by officials under the direct control of the South African government and members of the ruling elite-coalition against :”white” South Africans - has increased dramatically over the past three months. The armed attacks by organised, armed youth-militias against Boer/Afrikaner farmers have also nearly doubled since last year with 46 murders since January 1 2010. Over the past three years these armed militia gangs also increasingly started attacking clusters of Afrikaans-speaking white families in the suburbs and peri-urban areas of South Africa according to the SAPS statistics of such so-named ‘residential robberies.”.

Especially these surbuban attacks greatly impact on the growing feeling of fear and insecurity among the Boer/Afrikaner minority and these attacks started increasing from about three years ago.

“Kill all whites at World Cup 2010’

Also, black activists and jihadist groups have lately been calling for ‘the killing of all whites” at the forthcoming football World Cup 2010 tournaments to be held in June – with the activities in this regard on all thesocial-networking sites such as Facebook’ showing a marked increase in South Africa. (details follow in the report below). Food-security compromised:

It must first of all be noted that these farm-attacks are having a seriously detrimental impact on South Africa's ability to feed its growing population: the country's food security is being seriously compromised by these increasingly insecure rural working conditions:

of the 85,000 registered, tax-paying Boer farmers who produced vast amounts of excess-crops and livestock products in 1994 - now only between 8,000 to 10,000 commercial grain farmers remain March 2010 to produce excess graincrops for the local 50-million residents: and these farmers now have very little land left: they are now food-cropping on less than one percent of the total SA land surface (source: CIA country file). The other remaining 10,000-some 'white' farmers registered as taxpaying-agricultural producers who are either leasing or owning agricultural land; often only produce livestock or have also widely diverted their operations to wildlife reserves with just a few fulltime workers – and who cater to the tourism trade.

The most important African staple-crop maize ("corn" as it is referred to in North-America) is consumed at an annual 8.7-million tonnes by the local population. However local white crop-farmers can no longer supply this minimum requirement most years - and an average of 60% of the maize-crops had to be imported from off-continent over the past five years.

For the first time in South African agricultural history the country has stopped being self-sustainable in agricultural production. Meanwhile the more than one-million 'black starter-farmers' who are still being handed portions of previously white-owned productive farms are not producing sufficient excess food for the market at all -- warned Land Reform minister Gugile Nkwinti . This very rapid drop in local, productive farmers is due to two major reasons: the ANC-government's failing 'land restitution' programme and these very insecure working conditions for Boer-farmers. Many of these so-named 'farm attacks" aren't being reported by the SAPS to the news media -- unless police arrest someone ie. if 'good news' can be reported - or if the crime reaches a court of law; or if families publish details - often lately on the social network sites such as Facebook. This list thus changes every day with new details.

Black female farmers:

I also include on this list a seperate record of the gruesome attacks targetting black female subsistence-farmers in South Africa who often are murdered with all their female relatives - their homesteads are torched with them inside -- if they insist on retaining their inherited land-rights. While women and men are legally entitled to enherit landed properties in South Africa the tribal communities object to this and often the male relatives will 'remove' the females from such tribal farms through such violence. It must be noted that these attacks also are carried out in a very well-organised manner by large numbers of young black males in the identical brutality also exhibited towards Boer farm families.

Afrikaner-Boer minority's economic deprevation by deliberate exclusion from accessing labour market and by denying land-rights:

The newest census figures states that 79.7% of the population is black, followed by 'whites' 9.1% (4 million of whom 3-million are Afrikaans-speakers) Coloureds (mixed race often also Afrikaans-speakers mostly in the Western Cape) 8.8%, and the remainder 2.4% are categorised as Indian or Asian. In other words it is the opposite of the United Kingdom or United States - where minorities are protected by law -- any attacks on minorities are dealt with in a harsh fashion by the media and these governments. In South Africa, laws were created to do the opposite: they specifically exclude the 9.1% white minority' from the labour market to favour the 79,7% black-majority under a plethora of so-named 'black economic empowerment' laws.

At the moment this ongoing process has resulted in the rapid empoverishment of more than 1-million of the 3-million 'white' (and often better-educated) Afrikaner/Boers - who in the past as government-employees and working-class artisans also were crucial to keep the health services; municipal services; the industrial complex including the mines; and educational services operative. The "whites" are moreover by law usually not entitled to most government-food-aid or payout benefits and are often also denied access or thrown out of to public housing because they belong to the 'previously advantaged race group'and thus have to rely for their survival on handouts from trade-union members in the Solidariteit-trade union http://www.solidariteit.co.za and its Helpende Hand (Helping Hand) organisation to try and locate and then help these destitute and homeless Afrikaner/Boer families; also the Volkshulp organisation tries to find jobs and cheap housing for them in the rapidly-shrinking labour market.

Only 4-million of the 50-million South African residents were gainfully employed and paying taxes to the SA Revenue Service up to December 2009 and the country has shed more than 1-million jobs in 2009 alone - creating growing polarisation in the battle for shrinking resources. Even though poor these 'white'families - often housed in caravans and tents at campsites or remote backyards and church missions - are moreover also being targetted by black armed-attack gangs even though there is nothing of value to steal. Many of these Afrikaans-speaking poor-white children are also denied a public education because they can't afford the school fees and school uniforms. Afrikaners also live under a government which is increasingly removing their constitutional rights which officially grants them to right to be educated in their home-language: with the action group PRAAG and AFRIFORUM in the forefront of fighting court-cases to regain these language-rights. Left s an example of the housing in Afrikaner squatter camps which are run by Helpende Hand. The unemployable Afrikaner woman has no source of income and survives on food-handouts from family and Helpende Hand and by selling homecrafts. This picture formed part of a large series taken by South African journalist De Wet Potgieter -- who carried out extensive research to locate all the 'poor-whites' in these squatter camps during 2008 and 2009.

I am also adding to my previous reports by describing the growing racial polarisation in South Africa and a large number of government-sanctioned hate-speech incidents.

The armed militia-style attacks by black youth gangs also still continue on the farms and smallholdings with another 45 farm-murders since January 2010. The current total stands at 3,146 but an average of two farmers/farm dwellers a week are murdered and the list changes each day.

Well-organised attacks include advance scouting parties:

The well-organised nature of these armed attack gangs in the suburbs and the countryside can be seen from the great many widespread reports amongs victim-families that the targets are first identified with a little-known 'field-writing language' which is often used by tribes across southern Africa - placing combinations of colours and objects in the landscape which each have a huge variety of different meanings. These secret symbols placed outside the homesteads by advance scouting groups often denote activities of the farm-occupants which tell the attack gangs about the exact movements when they will be home for instance; how many people are inside the homestead at any given time; whether there are arms inside; and often the targets' response to unusual sounds are 'tested' by the attack gang to see the level of resistance which they could expect and its nature. This retired police officer also teaches classes to local community-security organisations and makes himself available for hands-on advice and tracking of these field-signs – thus teaching a growing number of rural and suburban families how to read these signs; how to deal with them; and how to work pro-actively and thus prevent attacks by trying to track down the advance scouting group and/or by laying misleading trails. It is also important to note that of many thousands of armed attacks recorded over the past three years less than 6 percent ever reached the law courts and the average response-time by the SAPS was 8 hours: often the SA Police Service did not even respond to emergency calls of attacked Afrikaner families until the next day -- and the SAPS willingness to investigate the crime scene depended entirely on the goodwill of the local police-station commanders. This growing policing-gap is filled by the multi-billion Rand private-security industry in South Africa and often it is reported that private guards arrive at crime-scenes long before the SAPS response teams do.

Agricultural industry's request for reinstatement of self-defence units on farms;

The rapidly-shrinking SA farming community has also formally asked the SA government for the reinstatement of their traditional citizen-volunteer commando units - which are a pro-active form of rural policing developed over many years within the Boer community. The commandos are interlinked but comprised of local people with field-tracking skills and military- and police-reservists who have extensive local knowledge of the population and the environment. Often use is made of experienced field-trackers (usually Khoi-San). These commandos were unilaterally disbanded by the previous Mbeki-cabinet without advance consultation with the farming communities - and the statement noted that the police has not boosted its rural-policing to fill the gap left by the commandos. Pleas to Pres. Jacob Zuma by Afrikaner crime-victims to stop the murders:

On March 8 2010 more than 138,000 letters from Afrikaans-speaking crime-victims were collected within a month and hand-delivered to SA president Zuma's home by representatives of Solidarity trade union and its civil-rights group Afriforum. They also produced a video on YouTube pleading with Zuma to 'end the murders".

Legal resistance to crime and fraudulent municipal officials from Afrikaner ratepayers

Afrikaner ratepayers are also fighting against the local crime and the rapid deterioration of the infrastructure which causes ever-ore more crime and rioting - by other legal means: However these ratepayer-activities also have a 'polarising effect' on the ruling party-coalition which in turn again increases the level of hate-speech against whites. More than 280 ratepayers associations countrywide have over the past five years filed legal 'disputes' with inefficient and/or fraudulent local ANC-run municipalities which allows the Associations to divert their rates and taxes into Trust Accounts from which they can appoint qualified contractors to run the municipal service-delivery. At the moment only 3 percent of all the South African water-purification plants are still operating and the poor management-skills of ANC-run municipalities is having a serious pollution effect on the scarce water-resource of the country - in turn also increasing the large number of violent protests in the hardest-hit poor black townships and squatter camps.

ATTACKS ON NON-FARM MINORITY FAMILIES INCREASED OVER PAST THREE YEARS:

However I have also noticed an upwards trend especially over the past three years in which these very brutal armed attacks by young black male groups -- always very well organised with the previously-described advance intelligence of their targets -- have also expanded to include the Afrikaans-speakers in suburban and peri-urban areas which are not officially registered as 'agricultural land holdings" -- and similar attacks targetting land-owning South African-Indian families in KwaZulu-Natal have also occurred in small numbers; while the previously reported attacks dating from 2002 against the so-named 'Dunn-Zulu" farm owners have reportedly nearly stopped after tribal negotiations with the Inkatha Freedom Party and local tribes created set land-boundaries. The right-hand map shows the language-areas of Gauteng province – on the left is the SA Police Service map showing the concentrations of armed-attacks targetting families inside their homes. it can be clearly seen that the vast majority of these armed attacks by gangs of well-organised young black males target families in the Afrikaans-language suburbs and peri-urban (semi-agricultural-residential) areas primarily in Gauteng, and North West – and other provinces where clusters of Afrikaners/Boers are concentrated the traditional 'Boer-settlement' areas dating from the Great Trek.

The word 'Boer' in this connection refers to the generic name used by SA blacks to indicate 'all whites' - however it is important to note that 3-million of the 4-million 'whites' in South Africa also are Afrikaans-speakers and the term thus also is interchangable: for instance in the latest hate-speech incident in April 2009 by the ANC- alligned SASCO student union recorded at the University of the Free State the words 'kill the boer - kill the farmer' were daubed on this protest poster by a student-protestor which clearly indicated that he was targetting the Afrikaans-speaking white students at the university - not 'farmers'. Thus the meaning this particular black South African attached to this word denoted 'white students' who speak Afrikaans.

Residential robberies:

These so-named 'residential robberies' as they are listed by the SAPS are not included in my above-mentioned name-lists of murdered Boer farmers - but should actually also be considered as being part of the identical modus-operandi - including the excessive cruelty with which these murders/rapes/assaults are carried out, often with hours of torture -- exactly is is being done to Afrikaans-speakers on the farms and agricultural smallholdings.

Hate speech by ruling elite:

The ruling South African troika - the coalition of the African National Congress, the SA communist party and the Cosatu trade union movement - has much internal ideology-based strife about the way they want South Africa to be run.

However the troika-members on the other hand also are unified in their persistently denying the genocidal nature of these attacks against "whites' -- for instance on March 5 2010 the SA Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa again insisted that 'farm-murders should not be politicised" and that all these attacks "should be treated equally and be classified as 'just crime".

At the same time it has also been noted that there has been growing hatespeech directly from many of these cabinet-ministers and their supporters -- and also the people directly under their control – specifically from the ANC youth league president Julius Malema. Afrikaans kids targetted by ‘Kill the Boer’ hatespeech at two high schools

Small minority-Afrikaans pupils were targetted at two high schools by vicious crowds of the co-ruling SA Communist Party who threatened to kill them – in Bethlehem, Free State and in Christiana, North West. The only Afrikaans-language schools in both these two towns are being targetted by vicious hate-speech, with local English-speaking black members of the Communist Youth League demanding that the “Afrikaners must be thrown in hell’, and with aggressive, armed protestors chanting “Kill the Boer’ threats at the school gates. Anti-white hatespeech by radical black-consciousness movements:

Members of my Facebook site recently alerted me to a number of ‘Africanist’ websites in volatile South Africa where radical islamists from as far afield as Singapore (Malaysia) and Saint Louis in the USA are very actively inciting black South African members to ‘kill all the whites’ there. This incitement to kill all Europeans is often targetted towards the increasingly besieged Afrikaans-speaking minority -- but has also been targetting all the Western football fans planning to travel to the World Cup 2010 tournaments in South Africa in June.

These are no idle threats: a very real threat of terrorism against the WC2010 exists, according to a top expert’s warning from the SA Institute for Race Relations. Their report specifically raised the alarm about the active presence of such Islamist-Radical cells inside South Africa – and which are already in place -- ‘very likely’ planning attacks against the WC2010 football tournament venues. Hatespeech during murders/armed attacks targetting whites:

David Jones, of the Daily Mail newspaper described the brutal assault of a white woman, Mrs. Ame Brown, in her Johannesburg home, in the absence of her husband, who was working a night shift. Mrs. Brown's two young sons were bound at the wrists and forced at gunpoint to watch by the four-strong black gang which had broken into their flat as their mother was violated in turn by each of the gang members. Says Jones: "As the first man made way for the second, he spat out the hate-filled words Ame, an Afrikaner, will never forget: "For years you Boers always took from us. Now we're taking from you." In fact, Ame Brown worked as a care assistant looking after mainly black children at a Johannesburg home for youngsters. But her work on behalf of such an underprivileged, have-not section of the population obviously cut no ice with her assailants. Her race was all that mattered as far as they were concerned.
Lambert Theron, 20, Kempton Park Wimpy manager - CCTV filmed this young Afrikaner’s last moments: being hacked to death in a revenge-murder by two black co-workers – who accused him of ‘lying like all white men do’.
Jock de Gouveia, an elderly man from Madeira in Portugal, died after (black) robbers dragged him for some kilometres on a rope behind his pick-up truck. His face was totally disfigured. The police caught the three perpetrators - but only after one was caught having Mr. de Gouveia's sim card and TV in his possession.

Victims’blood was used to daub ‘Kill the Boer” on farmhouse walls:

Alice and Helen Lotter - One of the most shocking recent examples in 2009 was that of two anti-white racist crimes involving the torture-murders of Alice Lotter, 77, and her daughter Helen, 57, which caused a wave of abhorrence amongst the entire white community because of its incredible cruelty.

The women, both frail, were tortured to death at their farm in Allenridge in the Free State on March 6 2009. According to the SAPS' forensic evidence, the Lotter mother and daughter died excruciatingly painful deaths: First tortured by being stabbed with broken glass bottles into their vaginas; one of the women also had her breasts cut off while she was still alive – and then both women’s blood, police forensic experts found, had been used to paint the ANC’s anti-Afrikaner hate slogan ‘Kill the Boer Kill the Farmer’ on the walls of their homestead.

These radical websites – including the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania, the Azanian People’s Liberation Army and another site called Blackwash. The latter site was co-founded by (a former Reuters news agency intern) journalist Ms Pakama Ngceni (pictured left) and a fellow-student Mr Ncebakazi Manzi two years ago. Miss Ngceni did a brief stint at the international news agency in Johannesburg in 2009 but now has no further links with them. (Ms Ngceni replied to our request for comment by writing that …”(you are) not entitled to my comment on what you term to be a strange anomaly in my journalistic abilities.”)

Together all these groups have launched a hate-mongering campaign on the South African Facebook pages – with people with Arabic-sounding names and pictures actively encouraging the black members to start a race war against one of the most visible and defenceless minorities in South Africa. The PAC has now undertaken to take the offending messages from their page.

Radical Jihadists incite blacks to kill whites in South Africa:

The most worrying aspect of all this growing hate-speech campaign is the very active participation of clearly radical Islamists – with names such as Ahmed El Saud ; Abdul-Aziz Hossayn; and Juhani Hossayn – pictured right -- with the latter claiming that he hails from Uap in the Northern Cape in a posting on the Pan Africanist of Azania Facebook page. In reaction -- the South African civil-rights initiative AfriForum is threatening to sue Mr Anwar Adams – the administrator of the facebook page of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania -- in the Equality Court if Adams does not remove the public calls on their page to ‘kill all whites’ by 10am February 26 2010. Their ultimatum follws after Adams had refused to remove a comment to “kill the f***ng whites’ by someone who calls himself Ahmed El Saud from the page. This campaign to kill all whites is well beyond just a mindless threat from a few angry young blacks: more than 3,140 white farmers have already been murdered on South African farms since 1987 – often after hours of mutilation and torture - and primariiy by young black male gangs whose members frequently are armed with illegal AK-47s. Yet despite numerous complaints to facebook management the site was still active on February 25.

Meanwhile the number of armed attacks against whites – primarily Afrikaans-speakers from all accounts -- inside their own homes and also in public places is growing rapidly: Slaughter of whites continues and Hatespeech against SA whites is often deadly

There has been NO attempt recorded over the past ten years by any ANC-cabinet minister to publicly reign in any of these people under their control from uttering hate-speech.

Anti-human-trafficking helpline launched ahead of WC2010 – Tollfree 08000-737283 (08000-RESCUE)

Human trafficking is NOT illegal in South Africa…. and with the World Cup 2010 getting closer, local parents are warned to look after their kids ‘as if they are gold’…

With the FIFA World Football Cup tournaments getting ever-closer South Africa’s Salvation Army has stepped up its anti-human trafficking campaign. It launched a 24-hour toll free hotline number, 08000-RESCUE (08000-737283), where victims and the public can report all cases of human trafficking. Human trafficking is not illegal in South Africa, and Venter urged the government to pass the still pending draft-legislation to bring those criminals to book.

The toll free number was launched at the South African Human Rights Commission in Johannesburg. "This toll free number allows people to call for help on all matters relating to human trafficking and serve as a platform for people to offer tip-off information on suspicious circumstances," said Major Marieke Venter.

Their trained consultantswill report all human trafficking cases to the Salvation Army while all emergency cases will be referred directly to the South African Police Services. This is the only dedicated anti-human trafficking helpline in South Africa that will offer 24-hour assistance.

Brian Adams, the founder of “BE HEARD”, said they are partnering with The Salvation Army in this venture. His organisation provides an anonymous tip-off service and will run The Salvation Army's toll free helpline. According to The Salvation Army, of the 2-million people trafficked each year, 450,000 are in Africa and are either used for exploitation as prostitutes, forced labour or for harvesting of their body organs.

And inside the country, children also are trafficked from poor rural areas to urban centers like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Bloemfontein – both boys and girls are trafficked as sex-slaves and for domestic servitude; forced street vending, food service, begging, crime and “muti” (the removal of their organs for traditional medicine). The children usually are approached by people they know and trust, talked into leaving their homes. En route, they are usually raped, and their documents confiscated. Some are sold to illegal mine workers and put to work underground to hack gold and platinum ore from existing mines in SA, others are destined for brothels. One undercover investigation team making a video of this child-trafficking in South Africa, posing as prospective "clients," asked one trafficker: "How many women can you get us?" "Depends how many you need," was the response. When asked what a woman cost, he replied "R1 000, and maybe R150 for the border official." "How do you make sure the women don't run away when they find they aren't going to be waitressing, but doing sex work?" the interviewer asked. "Sometimes we rape them. Afrikaans mom wins fierce fight against Roodepoort kidnapper

ROODEPOORT - This beautiful 20 month old Afrikaans toddler from Weltevreden Park in Roodepoort now is safe in his mother’s injured arms: saved from a kidnapper by his frantic mom while she was tied to a tree with a rope around her neck while she clutched her baby’s feet, grappling with a kidnapper who was stabbing her at the same time, report Beeld newspaper photographer Lauren Mulligan and journalist Virginia Keppler.

The mom was not identified to protect the family from the kidnapping gang. The family told Beeld that the young Afrikaans mom was walking with the baby in a stroller towards a kindergarten and was about 500 metres from her home when she was attacked by a man who held a knife to her back.

He ordered her to walk with him to a remote part of a park. “I hoped that if I cooperated and he found out I had nothing of value, he’d let us go. However when we reached the park he tied me to a tree with a rope around my neck, searched me, touched me up and fondled my breasts. Then he took my baby from the stroller next to me and the baby immediately started screaming. I managed to grab my baby by the feet. The man demanded that I let the baby go and threatened to kill me, but I held him tightly by the feet. Then the man stabbed me in the arm. I started screaming very loudly then,’ she said.

A man in the vicinity heard her and rushed to help her, and the two men grappled with each other while the young mom still desperately tried to cling to her baby’s feet. Just as her child’s feet slipped from her grip the kidnapper also let go of her baby – so the toddler fell to the ground really hard, hitting his head.

The man grappling with the kidnapper meanwhile was yelling at her to ‘grab your baby and run’, but she took a while, struggling to untie the knot around her neck. She eventually managed to flee while the two men were still fighting with each other.

“I then grabbed my child with his shirt from the ground with one hand, and pushed the stroller with the other hand while running to the kindergarten,’ she said.

Upon her arrival two of the dads who were at the school jumped in their cars to chase the kidnapper to try and arrest him – but both men were missing. They only found the rope which had tied her to the tree and the baby bottle. The young mom required twelve stitches (picture) to repair the knife-wound damage to the senews and tissue of her arm, said police inspector Karen Jacobs of the Honeydew police station, who confirmed the incident and said the police had opened an investigation. Afrikaans kids targetted by ‘Kill the Boer’ hatespeech at two high schools

Afrikaans kids are being targetted at two high schools by vicious crowds who threaten to kill them – in Bethlehem, Free State and in Christiana, North West. The only Afrikaans-language schools in both these two towns are being targetted by vicious hate-speech, with local English-speaking black members of the Communist Youth League demanding that the “Afrikaners must be thrown in hell’, and with aggressive, armed protestors chanting “Kill the Boer’ threats at the school gates. Lone white women targetted by attackers, warns top security expert

2010-01-28 – PRETORIA. Top security expert and military analyst Henri Boshoff of the Institute for Security Studies also warns of a developing crime-pattern in which lone white (Pretoria) residents are brutally attacked inside their homes and often cruelly murdered – but who frequently are only found injured and murdered much later. Dr Boshoff responded to the month’s fourth known attack against a lone Pretoria resident, a 30-year-old Strubenkop woman, who was attacked in her bed, tied up and robbed. Hilda Fourie of Beeld reports that two days earlier, 83-year-old Elsa Blignaut was also found murdered in her bed in Nieuw Muckleneuk suburb. She was asphyxiated with her night-dress and was only discovered a day later by relatives. Other victims this month were Mrs Katrina van den Bergh (65), murdered in her home in Hermanstad, Pretoria, and 83-year-old Kitty Botha pictured right, of Lyttelton, Centurion. She was beaten to death in her bed and then her house was torched.

Panga attack against Viljoenskroon farm woman

However these attacks are not limited to greater Pretoria only, similar events have been taking place all across the country, for instance the gruesome panga attack against a lone Viljoenskroon farm woman identified only as Theresa, pictured left, who was attacked in her Vermaansdrift, Viljoenskroon homestead, in her bed on January 25. And lone female motorists often also are targetted by people who are supposed to protect them, such as on January 2, when a Free State traffic cop had pulled over a female Afrikaans motorist near Viljoenskroon because he wanted a `sexual experience with a white woman’. The terrified woman – a widow – said she felt very trapped and afraid because the man had pulled her car over in a lonely, rural area of the road which was surrounded by maize-fields. After the incident – she was issued with a traffic citation for which she had to pay a fine -- the woman felt so unsafe about lodging a formal complaint of sexual harassment that she wrote a letter to Beeld newspaper, asking whether someone could assist her. The Freedom Front Plus party, which represents the Afrikaner voting community, was asked to assist – and the party has already been in touch with municipal officials about the matter, demanding an investigation into the traffic official’s behaviour, said provincial leader Abrie Oosthuizen. Mr Oosthuizen also expressed concern about other reports regarding such incidents and asked that anyone who has experienced similar problems, to contact them directly. Grenade, bombs on two SA tourist beaches; threats to kill all whites at WC2010

With the FIFA World Cup 2010 football tournaments only 91 days away, it’s not widely known that black activist groups and radical islamists plan to disrupt the events with massive protest marches with internet sites calling for the ‘killing of all whites’ ; that a hand-grenade and bombs were found on two popular Western-tourist beaches in Cape Town and Durban; that a top security expert warned of ‘the very real threat of a terror attack against the WC2010…’

CAPE TOWN. A M75 Chech-made grenade was found on the Table View beach in Cape Town on March 10 2010– a beach hugely popular with foreign tourists and local, (mostly white) residents. The grenade was safely exploded by a bomb-disposal expert in the ocean - who told journalist Leon Steenkamp of the local Table Talk newspaper that ‘the hand grenade had been emptied but based on its condition it had been recently dumped.”

This wasn’t seen as a major news item by the main-stream news media in South Africa. Only one local newspaper reported the original story with a front-page picture of the grenade being exploded by a bomb-disposal expert. Yet this was no minor event: how many popular tourism-beaches in the rest of the world get grenades or bombs dumped on them without a media uproar and a major security sweep?

Top security expert Frans Cronje writes in his Jan 2010 report that there is a ‘very real terrorism threat’ against the WC2010:.. and noted:

‘One of the most effective assets that any terrorist group can possess is to convince its next target that they are no longer at risk…”

Security experts involved in the World Cup 2010 football tournaments should therefore be alerted to every such incident – even an apparently minor one. Yet outside the readers of Table Talk, people remained blissfully ignorant until one of those Table Talk readers emailed us a copied page: now we also know. Indeed: it’s always our duty to warn fellow-human beings of such dangers.

This also is a typical example of the nationwide and very pervasive media censorship to only report ‘good news’ in the runup to the WC2010: a direct result of the ‘no-bad news and only clean views rules’ laid down by FIFA – the Austrian-based organiser of the WC2010. Meanwhile the World Cup iscausing untold misery for many homeless people – and children are being abducted for sex-slavery -- and it hasn’t even started yet: the SA Police Service now issues frequent warnings of widespread of attempts to abduct children around their schools – kidnapped for sex-slavery in the many brothels mushrooming countrywide; hundreds of squatter camps facing the football venues and along the tourist-routes are being ‘sanitised’ -- causing misery to many hundreds of thousands of homeless adults and street children; children in Nelspruit were kicked out of their schools to make way for football-stadium site supervisrs; most reports of violent crimes are suppressed by the SAPS ; and FIFA is even infering with Africa’s traditional practices. The South African people of all races are becoming increasingly angry with the ‘wasteful WC2010’ – but especially with their self-enriching, elitist ANC-leaders… who allow all this to happen.

The World Cup 2010 tournament in South Africa has thus far caused nothing but trouble for locals: with large crime gangs haunting the neighbourhoods around the schools to abduct boys and girls – to dump them in brothels in time for the massive influx of young male tourists who are expected in June and July 2010. The international policing agency INTERPOL has also been warning of this growing international crime activity for the past year. Yet FIFA 's boss Sepp Blatter insists on adherance to his dictatorial edict to all the major South African news media: who do not dare to report any 'negative' crime reports: Fifa has openly threatened to withdraw their advertising revenue and journalistíc accreditation to its tournaments if the news media don't toe the line and adhere to censorship laid down by this powerful Austrian-born boss of FIFA.

Yet this grenade – placed on a popular tourist beach for Westerners apparently does not set the alarm bells of security experts ringing. Perhaps someone was ‘testing the security perimeters” -- yet the local bomb-disposal squad seemed unconcerned, even venturing an unbased guess that it was probably ‘discarded by a collector’. Bombs recently were also found on a Durban beach – with local authorities claiming that they dated from World War II. What they were doing there was not revealed.

These incidents cannot be ignored: for only two months earlier, on January 14, 2010, top SA security expert Frans Cronje of the SA Institute of Race relations had also warned that there was a 'very real threat' that El Qaida terrorist-groups could plan attacks against the WC2010 football tournaments in South Africa in June.

“A terror attack on the WC2010 would be a very attractive proposition for Al Qaeda’…

He wrote: “An Al Qaeda aligned movement may use the tournament as a platform upon which to launch a massive strike against a Western target in South Africa … The World Cup will also be a particularly attractive target for Al Qaeda. Estimates range at between 300,000 and 500,000 for the number of foreign tourists who will be in South Africa during the World Cup. This could make the tournament one of the largest gatherings of Westerners outside of western Europe and the United States. (…) With over 2 billion viewers the World Cup is also the world’s biggest live televised event. It dwarfs any event previously hosted in South Africa. The fact that every global news and press agency will converge on South Africa will greatly magnify the impact of any attack. Such global news coverage is a further factor that would make a terror attack on the World Cup a very attractive proposition for Al Qaeda.” I post his entire unedited report below this article. Black-consciousness movements threaten to disrupt WC2010

Also in the news this week – but again, not widely reported: more than 12,000 poor black squatters took to the streets in greater Pretoria and Brits – demanding houses, electricity, clean water and flush-toilets… and these angry masses all threatened to disrupt the “wasteful WC2010”. Similar threats and plans are also being organised at black-consciousness movement social network sites in South Africa.

PRETORIA. On March 10 2010 with only 92 days before the start of the prestigious FIFA football World Cup 2010 in South Africa more than 7,000 protestors – amongst them even small pupils armed with stones – built burning barricades outside seven squatter camps near Mamelodi East Pretoria and threatened to disrupt the WC2010. And in nearby Brits, 5,000 protestors marched to the local municipal officers – issuing the identical threats. The Mamelodi-satellite campus of the University of Pretoria had to close down because of the violence-driven demonstrations. Shops were barred; cars were stopped from entering the area. A Pick ’n Pay truck carrying a large supply of groceries also was looted by protestors. Countrywide similar outbursts against the World Cup 2010 are also growing apace.

Picture from Beeld March 99 2010: Besides the 7,000 rioters in Mamelodi East; just a few miles down the road in Brits, some 5,000 protestors also marched from Oukasie township to the Madibeng municipal offices on the same day -- accusing ANC-officials of neglecting public housing projects and municipal services while wasting money on ‘wasteful football tournaments’ while ignoring the needs of the poorest of the poor languishing in their rapidly-expanding, increasingly unhealthy squatter camps where their only available water is polluted with parasites, human faeces and dangerous chemicals. And they are blaming the ‘wasteful World Cup 2010 for all these woes; accusing the ANC-cabinet of wasting millions on the tournament ‘s security and ventures while ignoring the needs of millions of desperate township dwellers...

At Mamelodi-East near Pretoria – where six gigantic squatter camps are rapidly mushrooming out of control and causing massive health and crime-problems -- thousands of angry residents also built burning barricades at Tsamaya Road, Hector Peterson Street and Hans Strijdom Drive all day and threw motorists with rocks. Police tried to chase away the angry stone-throwing crowds with rubber-bullets – and even reportedly also fired live rounds over their heads. Police Captain Johannes Maheso said four people were arrested. The protests followed hot on the heels of similar organised anti-WC2010 protests in the Gauteng towns of Hammanskraal, Soshanguve and Brits over the past months during which hundreds of people have also been arrested – but then released without charges.

These countrywide protest marches also have also been growing dramatically in size and ferocity from just a few about three years ago to the daily mass-protests like those yesterday. The black protestors’ anger at the elitist ruling ANC-cabal is also growing more each day.

“We will disrupt the WC2010 football tournaments”

Beeld (Afrikaans) journalist Virginia Keppler reported on March 10 2010 that the Mamelodi-East protestors -- (Beeld picture left of a pupil with stones) -- also openly threatened to massively disrupt the forthcoming football-tournaments. “If the government can act so efficiently to prepare for the WC2010 and spends so many millions of Rands on it, it’s a disgrace that people now are still living in such dismal squatter camps, ‘ said resident Vusi Nkosi. “The football means nothing to us – we can’t watch it anyway without electricity,’ he said.

“We will fight and toi-toi just like the ANC has taught us…’ Toi-toi is the aggressive ‘war-dance’ first used during apartheid by activists.

At Oukasie near Brits about 5,000 residents also marched to the local municipal offices on March 20. Local community leader Ms Veronica Mphahlele said the ANC-government had promised them in 2000 that they would get 'permanent housing and land of our own’. “It’s now ten years later and we are still squatting in the same place. Instead the municipality just sends in the police to come and shoot us,’ she said.

There are widespread accusations by Oukasie and surrounding squatter-camp residents that ‘town councillors, the SAPS and the metro-police are enriching themselves by selling off houses built for the poor for their self-enrichment’. The local MEC for public housing and local government admitted during this protest march that ‘they have a large backlog in building public housing; and that the government did promise to build 5,000 new houses. How vulnerable is South Africa’s soccer World Cup to a major terrorist attack?
By Frans Cronje of the SA Institute for Race Relations, who warns that the terror-threat against the WC2010 in South Africa is altogether more serious than the ‘amateurish attack on the Togo football team in Angola…’ a week earlier in Angola.

January 14 2010, SA Institute of Race Relations. “The attack by Cabindan separatists on Togo’s soccer team at the current Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola has created some controversy about safety surrounding the soccer World Cup to be staged in South Africa later this year. A number of analysts and newspaper editorials have dismissed concerns at terror attacks in South Africa. Soccer authorities have called the idea ‘stupid’ and one newspaper even went as far as to suggest it was ‘racist’. However there is some evidence to suggest that a risk does exist.

“Of course there is very little, if any risk, of those same Cabindan separatists launching a second attack in South Africa. Their dispute with Angola’s government is too distant and too localised. Their attack was relatively amateur and involved nothing more sophisticated than the setting up of a machine-gun on the side of a road.The terror risk facing South Africa’s World Cup does not originate from such relatively small and isolated rebel and political groups. There are in any case no such groups operating in South Africa. Route and venue security and the saturation policing likely to be employed by the South African police during the World Cup will also leave very little scope for such a relatively small scale ‘machine-gun’ assault to be carried out. South Africa’s security forces have proven themselves to be very adept at securing major events from petty crimes or other amateur security threats.

“The terror threat facing the tournament in South Africa is altogether more serious. It revolves around the possibility that an Al Qaeda aligned movement may use the tournament as a platform upon which to launch a massive strike against a Western target in South Africa. South Africa is particularly vulnerable to such a threat with all the circumstances or pre-conditions to stage such an attack in place.

“These include that South Africa’s borders are porous and controls on entry and exit are easily circumvented. It is also relatively easy to obtain fraudulent documents to live and work in South Africa under an assumed name. It would provide little challenge to an Al Qaeda cell to infiltrate any weaponry or personnel into the country ahead of the World Cup. Indeed if a terror attack were on the cards Al Qaeda’s track record in planning suggests that this may already have occurred.

“Borders in Western countries and particularly the United States are altogether more difficult to penetrate. Over the past decade border and visa controls have been stepped up dramatically. The fact that there has not been a major terror attack on American soil in almost a decade suggests that these efforts may have frustrated Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda may therefore be particularly drawn to the lax border controls and security on offer on South Africa.

“There should also be concern at the capacity of South Africa’s intelligence services to accurately detect and act against such a threat. There is some evidence to suggest that the efforts of these agencies have been turned inwards to fight domestic political battles for factions within the ANC. They may not have their eye on the ball internationally to the extent that they should. Evidence led in the current Jackie Selebi trial also suggests that these agencies have been corrupted. Evidence from that trial includes that South African security agencies showed international intelligence reports to alleged drug smugglers in exchange for bribes.

“There must also be concerns about the simple ‘capacity’ of these agencies to do intelligence work. On a number of occasions they have been embarrassed by having their operatives and operations publically identified in the media.

“Threat detection and mitigation must therefore be left to foreign agencies, many of which probably operate quite freely in South Africa. In part their interest in the country may arise from the concept of an African ‘terror belt’ that extends southwards from Yemen across the Gulf of Aden to Somalia and then down the east coast of Africa through Kenya and Tanzania before ending up in Cape Town. The strong Islamic influence that runs through this coastal belt probably provides ample opportunity for the concealment of terror cells. This is not to suggest that Muslim communities in Cape Town or elsewhere in Africa are actively complicit in such terrorist activities. Rather that terror cells are by their nature secretive and operate as clandestine minorities of the communities they penetrate.

“Confidence in the abilities of these Western agencies should also not be exaggerated. American intelligence operatives failed to detect both the 9/11 attacks and the more recent Christmas Day airline bomb scare even though they appear to have had sufficient information to pre-empt these attacks. The recent killing in Afghanistan of several CIA agents by an Al Qaeda triple-agent is a further example of the challenges and miscalculations that beset Western agencies. While many successfully pre-empted attacks may never make newspaper headlines there appears to be a weakness in the ability of many agencies to properly penetrate terror networks and then draw correct conclusions from the information they do obtain.

There is much evidence that the difficulty in attacking Westerners in Western countries has seen Al Qaeda adopt the strategy of rather attacking Westerners in ‘third party’ countries. Other than the bombings of the London underground in 2005, and train bombings in Spain in 2004, most terror attacks of the past decade have been conducted on Western targets outside of western Europe and the United States. A selection of these include:

The 2002 and 2005 Bali bombings that killed over 200 people including 90 Australians.
Bombings in Morocco in 2003 that were targeted at Westerners and Jews and killed over 40 people.
Suicide bomb attacks on a Western compound in Saudi Arabia in 2003 that killed over 30 people.
Bomb attacks on western occupied hotels in Jordan in 2005 that killed over 50 people.
Truck bomb attacks on the British Consulate and HSBC bank in Turkey in 2003 that killed over 60 people.

Africa too has a record of being a stage for Islamist terror networks to strike Western targets as testified to by attacks on embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998, the failed 2002 effort to shoot down an Israeli Boeing 757 with Strela surface to air missiles in Kenya, and the 2002 bombing of a holiday resort also in Kenya.

“South Africans would be naïve to believe that the warm relations that their Government enjoys with many rogue states, proffers them any degree of extra security.

“The World Cup will also be a particularly attractive target for Al Qaeda. Estimates range at between 300 000 and 500 000 for the number of foreign tourists who will be in South Africa during the World Cup. This could make the tournament one of the largest gatherings of Westerners outside of western Europe and the United States.

“With over 2 billion viewers the World Cup is also the world’s biggest live televised event. It dwarfs any event previously hosted in South Africa. The fact that every global news and press agency will converge on South Africa will greatly magnify the impact of any attack. Such global news coverage is a further factor that would make a terror attack on the World Cup a very attractive proposition for Al Qaeda.

“Many of the circumstances that would make a terror attack possible and attractive to Al Qaeda therefore converge very neatly around the World Cup in South Africa in just six months’ time.

“That is not to say that such an attack will occur nor that it is even likely. However, if an attack is carried out the diagnosis of why it occurred will be fairly simple, revolving chiefly around the circumstances and factors that this paper has highlighted. Nor is it possible to point to the nature of such an attack except to warn that Al Qaeda has unfortunately demonstrated its capacity both for patience and for highly imaginative planning.

“Three weeks ago the Institute told Reuters, in an interview later published in media ranging from the New York Times to ESPN.com, that the Soccer World Cup could come to be regarded as key milestone in changing attitudes about the African continent. It is also the Institute’s view that the risks commonly associated with South Africa’s World Cup, including crime, a shortage of accommodation, and weak transport infrastructure will not adversely affect the tournament.

Planning around the tournament appears to have been very effective as demonstrated by the now complete stadiums which are hugely impressive sporting arenas. On this score alone the sceptics about our ability to host the tournament appear to have got it wrong. The World Cup tourist experience of South Africa will be one of the best tourist experiences in the world. In almost every respect the factors that South Africa can control in arranging the World Cup appear to be well under control.

“ But international terrorism is not something over which we have the capacity to exercise much control. In addition one of the most effective assets that any terrorist group can possess is to convince its next target that they are no longer at risk. South Africans should therefore be a little less hasty to dismiss the risk of the World Cup being targeted and realise that the scourge of global terror applies to all societies and particularly under circumstances such as those pointed out above. “
