2010-05-15 Johannes Strydom, 40, Potchefstroom farmer, bludgeoned to death at his farm-gate
Forty-year-old Afrikaner farmer Johannes Strydom was bludgeoned to death at the gate of his farm Naderfontein on Saturday in broad daylight at about 1 pm. Three black men including the suspected murderer himself, and two comrades he pointed out to police and who were found with the farmer’s wallet and cellphone, were arrested the next day, Sunday said SAPS LtCol Lesego Metsi.
"The suspects hit Strydom with a blunt object and he died. He (the suspect) then dragged his body into the garage, took a Mazda bakkie, cellphone and wallet before fleeing." The bakkie wasn’t ‘stolen” – it was found abandoned in the Potchefstroom CBD. A 21-year-old -man was arrested on Sunday at a neighbouring farm. He then pointed out two more males who were found in possession of the farmer’s wallet and cellphone, Metsi said. May 16 2010 LONDON UK – With fears among the highly visible and vulnerable Afrikaner minority and its large expat community rising rapidly in South Africa, participants in yesterday’s peaceful London protest march against the feared genocide and the out-of-control violent crime epidemic said there were 'quite a few journalists' covering the march at the South African embassy in Trafalgar Square in London on May 15 2010.
However - the event has thus far gone nearly unreported in the SA “mainstream’ news media – but the pictures, videos and reports of the protest are being spread far and wide among the more than 1-million South African exiles – through the much faster ‘new media’ - via emails, the internet and Afrikaans-language community radio-stations. FEARS OF A PENDING BOER GENOCIDE ARE WELL-FOUNDED
As was repeatedly pointed out during the London anti-crime march against the SA embassy on May 15 2010, all South Africans are targets of crime, and many are under siege inside their own homes from the many tens of thousands of armed gangs roaming the streets: armed attacks against families soared last year, the Sunday Times wrote this week. However, the SAPS crime map also shows that the vast majority of these attacks are carried out in those specific suburbs and peri-urban areas which are primarily populated by Afrikaner and English-speaking white minority-families. And often even the poorest Afrikaners are attacked and hardly anything of any value stolen. These specific attacks also are recorded as being excessively violent: gruesome violence which the 2003 Genocide Watch report had already noted, was ‘based on racial hatred of a previously disfavored minority”. These attacks are also frequently accompanied by (gang) rape and cruel, long drawn-out mutilation practices, especially when Afrikaner/Boer families are being targetted. The UN identified rape as a ‘war tactic’.
During Saturday’s protest march to the South African embassy in Trafalgar Square, there was a small and unobtrusive police presence -- but there were no incidents of any violence and no arrests were made. The previous Saturday’s “silent protest against the Boer Genocide” did not have a police presence at all

The use of the word ‘genocide’ in this regard is not frivolous: one of the world’s top experts on genocide first started using it in 2002 in relation to the Boer minority by Dr Gregory Stanton, the president of the ‘international campaign to stop genocide’, Genocide Watch. His organisation has, since 2002, been listing in his words, the “Boers” and also ‘Foreigners’ in South Africa as being targetted by growing genocidal actions at the hands of ‘Black Racists’. The London metropolitan police had laid down some strict ground-rules for Saturday’s march to the SA Embassy: protestors were not allowed to carry any pictures of the cruelly slaughtered AWB-leader Eugene Terre’Blanche nor any symbols from his organisation.
Meanwhile the fear levels among the Afrikaners inside and outside South Africa are still rising, fears which the ANC-regime has done nothing to quell, also because the out-of-control genocidal hatespeech of its youth league members have not stopped – and even more ominously, because ANC youth league cadres were scheduled to undergo military training at the Saldanha naval academy soon: read.

Second protest within a month:
This was the second protest by SA expats in London: last Saturday, a small group from the Jack Hindon Scouts in the UK (left) also held a silent protest outside the Parliamentary buildings – with the young people standing silently along the curbside, taping their mouths shut -- to illustrate the attitude of the British government towards the racial hatred-driven slaughter of the Afrikaners/Boer minority in the countryside and the towns of South Africa under the hegemony of the regime of the ruling African National Congress party.
Yesterday’s protestors first met at the Eros statue in Piccadilly circus – and as they started emerging from the tube-station exit they also started catching the attention of the many webcam operators because of the statue was surrounded by a sea of bright-red t-shirts..
Despite fears previously expressed on varous Facebook sites by some participant and doom-prophets that ‘right-wing posters’ would also be displayed – there were none. Even world-famous Anti-AIDS protestor Zachie Achmad stuck his oar in – warning that ‘this was a protest organised by rightwing racists.’ Some ridiculous wags were even planning an ‘anti-fascist counter demonstration’ .
There was no evidence of this claim however - many people carried handmade white crosses with their own personal messages on them, otherscarried hand-made banners and posters.

One female protestor wrote that there “were some elements who tried to taunt us but we didn't bite.”
‘Why are your people being murdered like that? ‘
“Things remained peaceful, although, “ - she added that when she was questioned by a female journalist she got ‘pretty hot under the collar. “Especially when the journalist asked me why I thought we were being murdered like that; whether I knew the people on my placard, where I got the pictures and whether I would ever go home again?"
“I replied that 'of course I will go home, it's my country and the land of my forefathers and we developed it. The journalist said she could see I was upset about all the events and I replied: "of course, wouldn't you have been upset too? Our women, children and elderly are being targetted, these are defenceless, frail human beings who cannot defend themselves. Groups of attackers numbering as many as 15 men descend on them, gang-rape them, torture them until they're dead...How can one remain calm under those circumstances, especially because the government does nothing to stop it.?
"it was a very somber and successful walk through the streets. We left behind our placards and crosses at the SA embassy - to at least show them the extent of our anger'.

Why does Matthews Phosa carry such a big stick?
“R120-million State loan to Alliance Mining squandered… and now they want even more to save it from liquidation…”
ANC-stalwart and lawyer Matthews Phosa sticks his oar in just about anything to do with South Africa’s political -and economic life. He was at the forefront of the ANC’s farcical, internal ‘investigation’ of Julius Malema’s misbehaviour: click here. He was sitting in during the state-owned electricity utility Eskom’s shady deal with Hitachi and the ANC’s shares in this deal. And now, investigative journalist Julius Cobbett has also probed the powerful influence of the “Matthews Phosa ANC-presence” during the taxpayer-funded Industrial Development Corporation ‘s deal to fund the black-economic-empowerment transaction with Alt-X Alliance Mining. Cobbett’s conclusion: th edeal stinks…
“The IDC’s R120million loan was squandered; it stinks…and now the taxpayers are asked to cough up even more money to try and save Alliance Mining from liquidation. An an independent auditor warning that the company’s results were overstated ”…
So why does this unelected person exercise such a powerful influence in South African life? Phosa, who recently published a book of poetry in Afrikaans, was one of the first four members of the ruling African National Congress to enter South Africa from exile in 1990, carries a very big stick indeed. Since 1999 Phosa has served as a business consultant for local and international businesses. In addition, Phosa also holds chairman, vice-chairman or board member positions at more than ten prominent South African institutions and companies, including the University of South Africa, Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut, Special Olympics South Africa, Value Logistics, EOH (Pty) Ltd, SA Golden Leaf and Hans Merensky Holdings…

Did Matthews Phosa’s ANC presence lead the IDC to break its own rules?
by Julius Cobbett. JOHANNESBURG - State-owned Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has some tough questions to answer regarding a payment of R120m it made to suspended AltX-company Alliance Mining Corporation (JSE:ALM).
The loan, ostensibly to fund a proposed BEE transaction involving ANC Treasurer Matthews Phosa, was paid to Alliance Mining before the deal even went to shareholder vote. Many people will conclude that the IDC paid the money because of Phosa's involvement. Phosa is chairman of Alliance Mining and one of the three remaining directors there.
R120-million of the taxpayers’ money squandered:
Alliance Mining insiders tell Moneyweb that the R120m has been squandered. Alliance Mining has applied to the High Court for voluntary liquidation, suggesting that the loan is largely unrecoverable.
Alliance Mining's proposed BEE deal was announced by the company on July 14 2009. It was described as a "broad-based" deal, yet it would have resulted in Phosa becoming the company's largest shareholder.
- Phosa's close friend, the former SABC executive Matilda Gaboo, who had no prior involvement in Alliance Mining, would have ended up with more shares than the company's entire combined workforce.
- “Gaboo was appointed a director of Alliance Mining by virtue of her stake in the proposed BEE entity Dartingo. However, her appointment was premature because the deal never went to shareholder vote,” writes Cobbett.
Meanwhile, reports that Alliance Mining's financial results are allegedly inflated raise questions about what kind of due diligence the IDC conducted before approving the deal. Indeed, Moneyweb is aware of a company that had plans to merge with Alliance Mining, but ran for the hills after discovering eye-popping contracts for difference positions.
“Steven Firer, an audit professor who was appointed to the Alliance Mining board after the troubles surfaced, says he "cannot believe" that a due diligence investigation would not have uncovered the AltX company's skeletons.
- "How could the IDC lend the money without the conditions being satisfied?" asks Firer. "Why pay the money to the company instead of Dartingo? It defies belief."
Moneyweb asked IDC for comment on Tuesday. Our requests were acknowledged, but to date no response has been received. The questions posed to the IDC include:
- Did the IDC conduct a due diligence into Alliance Mining before agreeing to fund the BEE deal?
- If it did conduct a due diligence, why did it not discover the problems that prompted other suitors to give Alliance Mining a wide berth?
- Does the IDC view the loan as recoverable?
- Will the IDC pursue the BEE investors for repayment?
- Why was the money paid to Alliance Mining and not Dartingo?
- Why was the R120m paid when the deal had not even received shareholder approval?
“The latest news to come out of Alliance Mining is that Dartingo has persuaded the IDC to cough up even more money in an attempt to save Alliance Mining from liquidation,” writes Cobbett.
