About 18,000 amateur-athletes participate in this event in KwaZulu-Natal each year. Mr Mellet was identified as being missing when his coded tag failed to register at the finish line. BOKSBURG. Feb 16 2011 – Eastleigh truck-owner George Parkins and his 2 workers barely escaped from an angry mob of at least 20 striking black truck drivers, writes Dylan Slater writes in Caxton’s Bedfordview/Edenvale News. Parkins feared he was going to be murdered while transporting goods at 8:45am Feb 16 2011, Atlas Road, Boksburg.
‘ They would surely have killed us… ‘
They struck his truck with sticks, pipes, rocks, rubble and bricks. Three windows were smashed and the mob then tried to enter the truck's cabin to drag the three occupants outside - including Mr Parkins, a private contractor who owns the truck. “If they had managed to pull me and my workers out the truck they would have surely killed us,” said Mr Parkins.“There were more than 20 of them,” said one of Mr Parkin’s employees, clearly shaken by what had happened. Mr Parkins contacted the SAPS shortly thereafter. Vital food-transports torched across SA, drivers beaten into hospital
2011-02-16 Beeld reports that this massive load of spilled milk-powder was dumped on the R59 highway at the offramp Sasolburg/Vanderbijlpark by trucks full of black strikers. Breyten police are investigating charges of intimidation and assault ...lodged by three truck-drivers who were forced off ...the roads. Trucks in Johannesburg, the East-Rand, Vaal Triangle, Machadodorp were torched. In Johannesburg 3,500 of the striking truckers marched with knobkieries and vuvuzelas after torching a truck on Main Reef Road near Cleveland, forcing the driver to flee for his life. A trucker with a load of scrap metal rolled his truck when he was attacked by four black men outside Sasolburg on the R82. He was injured and taken to hospital. Bertus Gouws injured,black-racist gang assault Alberton
Bertus and Jean Gouws, parents of two teens, brutally beaten by large number of black youths in Alberton, Feb 5 2011
Bertus Gouws was injured by multiple assaults from a large group of blacks: but police refuse to accept his complaint:
Feb 5 2011. Bertus and Jean Gouws, the Afrikaans parents of two teens kids who were picking them up from a party in Alberton, were brutally assaulted with bricks, pipes, bats and bottles by a large group of black teenagers while the parents tried to protect their children from racist abuse by some black youths at the party.
Mr Gouws was standing next to his car, waiting for his teenaged kids to get in the vehicle to drive them home, when he was suddenly hit in the face by one black youth while another one hit him simultaneously on the back of his head with a bat. That was the start of a sustained assault during which he was dragged, kicked, beaten with pipes, bats, bottles and bricks by a large group of blacks including one girl who assaulted Gouws’ daughter. There were accusations of racism leveled from both sides. Despite Gouws’ obviously severe injuries indicating that he had been the victim of a sustained, multiple-assault, the local cops have refused to accept the Gouws’ couple’s formal complaint.
Alberton Record wrote that Bertus Gouws fell to the ground after the first assault and tried to stand up, but was unable to do so due to his injuries from being kicked simultaneously. He tried to crawl away, but the entire group of black youths grabbed him, dragged him behind a car where they kept hitting him with pipes, bats, bottles and kicking him. Jean was also being hit and kicked for trying to help Bertus, and his daughter Suzette was pushed around by a girl who was standing nearby.
Their daughter Suzette called the local community-policing-forum and the police, but the police never responded to the violent attacks carried out against the Afrikaans family. On the contrary: they have also refused to accept their formal charges of assault, saying ‘another case of assault was already opened before they did.’ It is being reported by the Alberton Record that many of the boys who attacked Bertus that night also attend a local school and that this school ‘has been extremely supportive and have been helping us with the investigation." The case is currently waiting to go to court.
2 whites in court for cruel Linden murder
Two white men expected in court for gruesome murder of Linden B&B owner Mrs Georgie Jacklin, 65 – after police shootout during their arrest in Three Rivers…
LINDEN, Johannesburg. It’s so unusual for whites to be arrested for extremely violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and murder, that crime-fighting group Eblock-watch announced it with a special email to all its members today. Two white men were arrested in Three Rivers after a shootout with Linden police detectives who were seeking them for the extremely violent and gruesome kidnapping and murder of Mrs Georgie Jacklin, 65, a Linden bed-and-breakfast owner and retired teacher.
Her bloodied, mutilated corpse was found dumped in a field near Viljoensdrift outside Sasolburg on Feb 4 2011 - still dressed in her bloodied bed-clothes. She was kidnapped from her Linden home, 110 km away. Her head was caved in with a concrete block, plastic cabling tied up her mouth, her teeth were bashed out, her nose broken, and she was dumped without any identification. Traces of her blood were found on the concrete block and the driveway of her home despite attempts to wash them down, investigating police said at the time. The high level of violence with which she was targetted was also commented on at the time.
Police put out alert for two white male suspects: It was already known that the police were looking for white suspects: an American tourist, described as a ‘blonde, white male 1.9m tall and very skinny’, was briefly arrested in Cape Town and taken in for questioning after Lynn Stacey, owner of The Villa Rosa B&B in Seapoint -- aware of Jacklin’s disappearance and the nationwide alert through eBlockwatch – became suspicious of an American tourist who arrived at her establishment on foot, with no form of identification and one small bag of luggage. However this poor guy was released after it turned out that he was simply a legitimate tourist who had been in Cape Town at the time of Jacklin's disappearance.
Eblock wrote this week: ‘Non-stop work from a special group of Linden Police detectives lead to the arrest of the guys who murdered the lady from a Linden Bed and Breakfast. Eblockwatch has been trying to track down the suspects but the police were brilliant. The team has not slept for days and their hard work has paid off. Eblockwatch and the police received a tip off from a very excited person who read the article in their local Caxton newspaper who had spotted the car (Mrs Jacklin’s eight-year-old red Ford Fiesta, reg. MGZ-641-GP) which was stolen when she was murdered at her Bed and Breakfast. Two white guys have just been in a shootout in Three Rivers with the team. The good guys won the shoot out and the bad guys have been arrested. Well done to the Linden Police, today you are the heroes." The Linden police have confirmed the arrests without mentioning the race of the arrested men.
Mrs Jacklin was a dedicated teacher for special-care children at the St Barnabas College in Bosmont, Johannesburg, where she had taught for eight years. . She leaves behind her two daughters, her ex-husband and three grandchildren: Richard, 20, Elizabeth, 2 and Mila, 7 months.
