Ever since Dr Koos van Staden's 2010 death: arrested murder suspect Kenneth Malesela Makhwesa keeps coming up with new excuses for getting postponements in Kempton Park court
2011-03-02 - Kenneth Malesela Makhwesa, 33, the suspected murder of the much-loved Kempton Park general practitioner Dr Koos van Staden on 22 Jan 2010, managed to get his trial postponed once again. He has been in custody ever since the murder but has managed to manipulate the court proceedings to obtain a chain of postponements.
This time, his legal counsel had withdrawn from the case, he claimed - and he wanted to arrange his own private counsel,. Beeld journalist Jinine Botha who attended the trial-proceedings, qoted Judge Colin Lamont as reluctantly granting the murder-suspect's request – but Lamont also warned that any further delays 'would not be tolerated.'
The charge sheet accuses Makhwesa of attacking Dr Van Staden on the erf of his Kempton Park residence on 22 January 2010. There also were other attackers. The doctor had stepped outside his secure residence to investigate why the dogs were barking and was ambushed outside. Makhwesa is accused of shooting the doctor dead. Dr Van Staden had managed to fire back some shots in self-defence - slightly injuring Makhwesa before he died in his garden. Police traced the blood-trail to nearby woods and arrested Makhwesa. Yesterday's trial was attended by the murdered Afrikaner doctor's black patients, who said he was a kind and caring physician. Amongst them was Ms Monica Lebelo, who said he was 'like a second father, and that the entire community misses him. One just had to talk to him and you'd already feel better.' Makwesa remains in custody until his case is rescheduled for later this month. The other men were never found. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Beskuldigde-verskyn-wat-geliefde-dokter-glo-vermoor-20110302
Other horrific crimes in Kempton Park:
19 Aug 2010 – Warrant officers Molokomme and student-constable Mashaba of the Kempton Park SAPS, were fired on Friday August 13 2010 after they were found guilty at an internal disclilpinary hearing of interference with the judical process – and Mashaba also was found guilty raping Afrikaans mom of three, Mrs Martie Olivier on 25 October 2000 - after her husband, Sarel, was first arrested by them on trumped-up charges after the couple had left a bistro. They were thrown in the back of a police van, and the cops then demanded a bribe from his wife Martie to release him again. Mrs Olivier only had R400 in cash with her and Mashaba, according to the evidence and witness statements, then climbed into the driver's seat next to her in the Olivier car with Molokomme and Sarel Olivier in the police van following them. Mashaba then allegedly pulled off enroute to the police station and raped Mrs Olivier.
‘Do you really love your husband? ‘
While one man put the husband in the back of the van, the other ‘man in police uniform’ then approached Mrs Olivier and asked her: ‘what are you prepared to give to get her husband out of jail?’ . She gave him R400, the only money she had with her, however he insisted again: “Do you really love your husband? Isn’t there something more you can do”? The man then climbed behind the wheel of the Oliviers’ car with her in the passenger seat, and drove it to the the Kempton Park police station while the police van containing her husband was driven by the other policeman right behind it. Mr Olivier told Beeld that 'he had noticed that about 200m from the police station, the car was pulled off the road’ as he was being driven into the police station.
She had been raped: At the police station the driver of the police van opened the rear doors and told Mr Olivier that “although he had ‘driven while drunk’, he ‘was allowed to go now’. A while later his Run-X with Mrs Olivier on the passenger-seat also showed up and the policeman behind the wheel got out. When Mr Olivier got back into their car with his wife, she told him she’d been raped. “She was very upset and confused and I saw that her underclothes were torn.’ So the angered husband walked back into the police station and had a fist-fight with the two cops, smashing his hand in the process. When he walked back to the family car however, his wife was gone. “I thought she’d run away,’ he said. He frantically started searching for her.
Was her drink at the pub spiked?
Mrs Olivier said however that while her husband was inside the police station, two policemen got into the car with her, and she remembered that one had bashed her head against an instrument panel and she‘d passed out. She woke up briefly she remembers, lying on the living room of an unknown house. And then she passed out again. The next thing she remembered was that a security guard was shaking her awake in the garden of the Boston Business college the next morning. “He asked me why the police had dumped me there, and I couldn’t answer him,’ she said.
Meanwhile Mr Olivier, who’d been searching for his wife in his car, spotted her walking in disheveled and distraught condition from the direction of the college at 7:20am, he told Beeld. He immediately took her to the police station – where the medical examination revealed that there was semen on her body and dress, and visible injuries to her vagina. Journalists who interviewed the couple also noticed that she had a huge bump on her forehead. “I have scratch-marks and blue bruises between my legs and on my body. In the car where I was raped first, there also was blood,’ she said. She has now been put on a course of antiretroviral medication to prevent HIV-transfer.
- The Olivier couple lodged formal charges of rape, assault and bribery. “I was terrified to lodge the charges. I didn’t even want to go there at first. I don’t trust anyone any more,’ she said. However she’s determined to ‘be strong’ and continue with the charges. “Who knows will be next on their list?” she said. There was no comment from the police department. http://www.nuus24.com/Content/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/1479/0c9090949740443f8a0682f02d6414b0/27-10-2009-06- http://www.sondag.co.za/artikels/Nuus/COPS-HT-VERKRAG http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/2010/08/two-cops-fired-for-raping-young-mom.html

Stellenbosch - A 25-year-old female student was raped in a bathroom at the Irene women's residence at the University of Stellenbosch in the early hours of Sunday morning. The suspect apparently gained access to the residence under false pretences after which the Matie student was threatened, sexually assaulted at about 05:30. Stellenbosch police captain René Matthee said the student was doing frontdoor- guard duty by herself. The man pretended to be a friend of one of the residents.
The student, whose name may not be mentioned because it was a sexual offence unless she gives personal permission for publication of her name, then let him come into the foyer of the residence. "He said he was looking for his girlfriend," added Matthee. The suspect then made the student believe that he had a weapon. She was forced into a bathroom at the residence, where she was raped. Shortly afterwards, he stole her possessions and ran away. Matthee said the man is still on the run.
University spokesperson Mohamed Shaikh confirmed the incident. " The student immediately reported the incident to the head of the residence who in turn called the US crisis service and risk and protection services (USBD)." Shaikh said the university started its own investigation. When asked about safety at residences, Shaikh said the university was 'in advanced stage' of planning to install security cameras but that this had not as yet happened at that particular women's residence. An identikit of the suspect will be made available soon. Anyone with information about the incident and who can help the police with the investigation can call Detective Constable Varity Moses on 021 8099191 or call Crimestop on 0860010111.The eblockwatch team

2011-03-01 A group of Potgietersrust farmers - connected with citizen-band radios - chased down the suspected rapist just after the man had raped the woman at noon. After receiving the alert, the farmers immediately raised roadblocks, informed the police and followed the municipal vehicle driven by the suspected rapist back to a municipal office. There a standoff ensued between municipal workers who were protecting the rapist from being arrested, and the farmers.
According to informed sources, the man had apparently driven a municipal vehicle to the smallholding at around noon and raped the Afrikaans woman inside. Local farmer Sakkie Kidson said: "we reacted quickly and stood together.' The farmers then clustered outside, demanding that the rape-suspect be turned over to the police - and accusing the municipal workers of protecting the man from a legal arrest. Marietie Louw-Carstens quoted witnesses as saying that the row got pretty nasty, with 'vile insults being flung back and forth'. Eventually the police did arrive to 'calm things down' and to arrest the suspect. However, none of the farmers would leave until they were certain that the suspect would not just be released again. They waited to hear when the suspect would be charged and when he would be scheduled for a court-appearance. The determined group stood waiting outside the local police station until they were reassured at 6pm that the suspected rapist - police confirmed that the arrested man works at the municipality - would appear in the local magistrate's court on Wednesday, said lt.col Ronel Otto. She confirmed that a rape-charge was lodged. Ms Louw-Carstens also went to the smallholding where the rape took place: her son said his mother is 'quiet, we'd rather not talk about it.' He confirmed that she was raped at around noon yesterday: she was outside the homestead briefly: pushing an old refrigerator from the house so that she could clean it - when the phone rang inside. When she went inside to answer it - the person on the other end hung up at once -- but she had forgotten to close the security gate behind her. The Transvaal Agricultural Union's northern-region security spokesman Japie Spanio said she earlier, also seen a municipal vehicle parked near her homestead. "When she turned around, a man was inside the house,' said Spanio. After the rape, the woman called her husband - who alerted the Potgietersrust farmers citizen-band network. She was taken to hospital for antiretroviral treatment; and for trauma counselling. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Boere-vang-verkragter-20110301 http://tinyurl.com/4q6fsgl
Alberton hatchet-victim Charmaine Pienaar: a miraculous recovery
Baby Nikita 's arrival is healing the shattered lives of the hard-working Pienaar family, who run the Great Yard Scrap Metals yard at Waldrift, Alberton. Matriach Heila, 41 was murdered by hatchet-killer Victor Nyezineu and daughter Charmaine, 18, received a hatchet-blow to her skull which had doctors fear she would never walk again in 2008. http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Byl-slagoffer-kry-n-Valentynsbaba-20110301
2011-03-01 Alberton crime-victim Charmaine Pienaar - whose skull was cleaved open by hatchet-murderer Victor Nyezineu after he had just killed her mother Heila at their scrap-metals yard at Waldrift smallholdings on September 30 2008 - has made a miraculous recovery. The feisty 21-year-old Afrikaans crime-victim delivered her firstborn Nikita on Valentine's Day. And despite all the predictions that she would never walk again, Charmaine bounced back and also gave her family new courage to go on with their lives.
Oct 01 2008 Beeld journalist Sonja van Buul reported that the young Afrikaans girl had lain for hours, bleeding from a fractured skull, next to her dead mom Heila. She axed to death and Charmaine, then 18, was critically wounded by the attack. However – she was able to give a very clear identification of the attacker at the hospital, and he was arrested. It took nearly three years of scheduled, rescheduled and endlessly postponed court appearances to obtain hatchet-murderer Victor Nyezineu ‘s conviction: but he now is serving a double-life-sentence.
Beeld journalist Sonja van Buul, who interviewed the girl and her family over the years during the long-drawn out court-dramas to get the hatchet-murderer convicted, writes that Charmaine had lain bleeding for hours next to her murdered 41-year-old mom until she was discovered by dad Danie, 42 and brother Frikkie, 22. The two women were robbed of a mere R2,000. Charmaine suffered horrendous, life-threatening injuries, and the neurosurgeon who treated her, Dr Thapelo Mpotoane, described her recovery as 'a miracle' during Nyezineu's trial. Doctors feared that she would never be able to walk again. Her skull, cheekbone and jaw-bone were splintered. But she was so determined to walk again, that she exercised secretly - and was able to surprise her grieving dad seven weeks after the attack by stumbling towards him in the hospital hallway on her own two feet. And after Nyezeneu was sentenced to a lifetime in prison for murder and attempted murder, the family were able to started picking up the threads of their shattered lives again, said Charmaine. When she and her partner Coenrad de Villiers, 24, became the proud parents of little Nikita in Alberton's Clinton-hospital, the Pienaar family members could even start smiling again. "Little Nikita brings us so much joy and happiness. Even my sister Chantelle, 15, who so often cries about our mom, now is her old self again.' http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Byl-slagoffer-kry-n-Valentynsbaba-20110301

- Stabbed twelve times, 67-year-old Hannatjie Stander still shots dead one Shangaan-speaking attacker, injured another one
Nov 10 2008 - COLIGNY - It's a rare event that farm-attackers are arrested, however pictured on the left are Samuel Katgetla, 26; Sergio Masibela, 26, of Mozambique and Patrick Malebo, 28, three Shangaan-speaking men who were arrested for the murder of Coligny farmer Sias Stander, 69, on November 7 2008. Farm wife Hannatjie Stander, 67, had fought back like a fierce lioness after her husband Sias, 69, was stabbed to death. She had sustained twelve stabwounds but still shot dead her attacker, now identified as Mozambiquan migrant Ernest Vilakazi, 34, and injured another one with well-aimed shots from her small .22 revolver.
The dead farmer had been scheduled to testify on Monday Nov 9 2008 at the local magistrate's court against two men who had been charged with assaulting him in December last year. The Afrikaans farm-wife had fought back hard after her husband was stabbed to death in his bed, police said: Mrs Stander managed to lock herself into her bedroom - however the murderers had broken down the door and were stabbing her when she fired her .22 gun at them. Vilakazi was hit in the middle of the chest. Police followed his bloodtrail into the veldt about 100m from the house, where they found him dead where he'd collapsed. She was treated at Coligny-hospital for eight stab-wounds to her legs, two in her left arm and two in her head. Police said she was badly traumatised and staying with friends in town. The Standers did not have children. A family friend, Gerhard Jacobs, said the murdered Afrikaner farmer 'loved his Brahman stud-animals as if they were his children. He was happiest when he was with his animals,' Jacobs said. http://www.news24.com/Beeld/Suid-Afrika/0,,3-975_2422931,00.html
20081110 Attacker Michael Thipe May death, Delareyville farm: court drops case against arrested farmer Jaco Swart, 26
Nov 10 2008 DELAREYVILLE MAGISTRATE'S COURT, Beeld journalist Linda de Beer reports that the murder charge against young Delareyville farmer Jaco Swart has been dropped - the court found that he had acted in self-defence and scrapped the case off the roll without any trial. Swart was arrested in May 2008 after he had shot dead farm attacker Thipe and seriously injured another. His father Jaap said at the court yesterday that the murder-charge lodged against his son had been a very traumatic experience for the entire family, and 'it has also left a permanent mark on him,' he said. Afriforum community-security spokesman Nantes Kelder said the dismissal of the young farmer's case 'proves that Swart was arrested illegally. The arrest was motivated purely by politics," he said. http://www.news24.com/Beeld/Suid-Afrika/0,,3-975_2424128,00.html
