Whites not allowed in Kagiso township

Mrs Putter says she and her husband Christo have been sleeping underneath cardboard boxes for the past few years. Both ‘work’ as car-guards in Krugersdorp and get about R1,5000 in cash from the fees they earn that way. Another applicant, Mark Pitzer, 32, pictured above, partially-disabled father of three, heard last month that the family was finally placed on a waiting list for a government-house in Kagiso – he’d applied ten years ago. “We will be very grateful to get away from our current living conditions and get our own house,’ he said. He shares one single room with wife Angie, sons Ian, 9, Michael, 5 and baby girl Bernadette, 3 months. Another family shares the other room in the two-roomed house. He was partially disabled when he was injured in an armed robbery while working as a security guard. He receives a disability pension of R1,080 a month (about $108).
However Luyanda Njomane, secretary-general of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in Kagisosaid ‘whites are not welcome’. We demand proof dat they applied legally for those houses. Otherwise we (blacks) will stand together and physically stop the whites from staying in Kagiso.’
Another Afrikaner who was placed on the Kagiso waiting list was Mrs Anita van Niekerk (34) whose family income is a monthly R2,000. She said her family ‘won’t have any trouble adjusting to live in a black township. “My husband Gerrit speaks Fanagalo (the Afrikaans/English/Nguni patois used in the mines) and my best girlfriend is black. My son Gerrit’s best mates at school are black and we already have friends in Kagiso through our church. We know we will like our life there. We will respect our neighbours.’
One thing is certain: this family will lose its Afrikaans culture within a generation: a genocidal process which the Pro-Afrikaans-Action Group (PRAAG) refers to as the deliberate ethnic-cleansing of the Afrikaner minority...
However Njomane remains militant about the issue, claiming that the Afrikaner families only applied in 2001 – much later than black families who got on the waiting list in 1996. “It proves that the Mogale City council (that’s the ANC-name for Krugersdorp) does not know what’s going on with its own waiting lists for housing.’ The city council spokesman Nkosana Zili had a politically-correct comment, claiming that ‘the council views poverty as a problem affecting all the race-groups.’’ http://www.rapport.co.za/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Wittes-moet-uit-Kagiso-wegbly-20101127

Mrs Zelda Boshoff: ‘cops bullied, terrorised and watched us’
Monday 25 April 2011 Mrs Zelda Boshoff admits that she cursed her husband after her acrimonious divorce – but never expected that he would take out an interdict against her which resulted in her family allegedly being bullied and harassed by police officers. The cops even did cartwheels in her flower-beds, sat in a police van watching her house and hammered on her windows at 7am.
Mrs Boshoff told the tale to the Sondag Afrikaans tabloid – which omitted a crucial detail, namely the town where all this was happening. Censorbugbear has been unable to obtain comment from the SAPF for this reason. (Sondag journalist Jacques Nel, interviewed Mrs Boshoff).
Mrs Boshoff said her family’s ordeal started after she had obtained an interdict against her divorced husband Salmon Boshoff. “He had illegal weapons in the house and I feared for our lives,’ she said. However luck was not with her: the judge who issued the interdict to stop her ex-husband from harassing her, had gone on holiday and locked it up in his safe. Her husband then took out an interdict against his ex-wife -- and ever since then, her house is being watched and local cops are ‘harassing her’, she said. “They are hunting my family like animals’, she told Sondag journalist Jacques Nel.
The interdict was issued on 6 April 2011 and she was ordered to appear in court on 30 May. “On 14 April I wake up at 7am from two big cops in a blue bakkie, hammering with their fists against my windows. They had a warrant but I refused to open the doors to them,’ she said. The neighbours then started noticing that the police would regularly park a van in front of her house, waiting for Mrs Boshoff to return. Zelda and her children had found refugee elsewhere however – and the cops got so bored waiting for them that they started spinning cartwheels with the bakkie in het flower beds.

Eight SAPS members of Bloemfontein were arrested: two are expected to be tried for murdering Tatane, the others for assault with the intent to cause serious injury.
The Independent Complaints directorate's managing director Francois Beukman confirmed the Sunday after the shooting that the police-officers were identified by witnesses. The investigative task-team questioned 14 police officers from Saturday-afternoon after the forensic examination revealed the bullets.
Tatane 's friend Molefi Nonyane (above) - who held him in his arms as he lay dying – told Volksblad that the Ficksburg community 'remains sceptical', and was quoted by Volksblad as saying: “The arrests are a small point of light in the tunnel. Only six police officers were arrested but at least 12 descended on him. What happens to the others who were involved?”

Tatane's newphy Lucas Moeletsane also questioned the 'independence of the ICD, he told Volksblad. The violence which led to the death of Ficksburg protester Andries Tatane was "shocking, unjustified and disproportionate", the Law Society of SA (LSSA) saidy. "By all accounts Mr Tatane, who was part of a group protesting against the lack of service delivery in the town, posed no threat to the police," LSSA leaders Nano Matlalaand Praveen Sham said in a statement. Tatane was a member of the Congress of the People and Ward 14 candidate for the May 18 local government elections in Meqheleng, Ficksburg in the eastern Free State. He was killed in the town on April 14, after being struck in the chest by something which made him bleed very suddenly and then colllapse and die shortly thereafter. The unarmed man was brutally beaten by a large number of police officers who surrounded hm from all sides before he was shot.
