Germiston driver lynched by black strikers’ mob
Man killed by striking Numsa members - police
Jacob Mashokoa EW News Radio 702 - Johannesburg police have reported that a man has been killed in Germiston by striking National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) members. Workers in the steel and engineering industry are on strike. A factory owner said a huge crowd pulled a private business owner out of his bakkie laden with steel pipes on Thursday afternoon.“ Basically, they pulled the driver out, started hitting him. The crowd sort of dispersed, police came in, one of our guys came around the corner at the same time, obviously seeing the guy was pronounced dead on the scene,” he said. Does SAPS maintain farm murder stats – or not?
FLASHBACK - Police Minister Mthethwa contradicted himself about Farm Attack statistics: does the SAPS statistics maintain stand-alone farm-murder statistics – or not?
On March 29, 2011 in parliament, in replies to written questions from DA-parliamentarian M M Swathe, police minister Nati Mthethwa said that ‘the statistics on farm murders are not available on the case administration system of the SAPS. Cases of murder are not listed seperately based on where they occur…’murder is considered murder whether in rural areas or urban areas…’ http://www.politicsweb.co.za/politicsweb/view/politicsweb/en/page72308?oid=228504&sn=Marketingweb+detail&pid=90389 .
However his March 29 2011 statement directly contradicts his previous statement on March 13 2011, also in Parliament - when he said that “from December 2010 to date (March 13 2011) there had been twelve murders on farms and smallholding recorded by the SAPS” – and also adding considerable details showing that they took their ‘crime intelligence on rural crime’ very seriously. http://www.politicsweb.co.za/politicsweb/view/politicsweb/en/page71656?oid=226064&sn=Detail&pid=71656.

- Which raises the question: where exactly did he get his stats from when he claimed that there had been ‘twelve murders on farms and smallholdings from December 2010 to (March 13 2011)? …
