Shock pictures of ailing Pres. Jacob Zuma

Recent photographs have emerged from a function on July 13 2011, attended by President Jacob Zuma in Grahamstown, and which showed a very exhausted man. During the ceremony, he was seen to nod off three times. Various sources noted that he reportedly ‘walked listlessly” , that ‘his clothes and watchband seemed too big for him’  -  and ‘that he had some kind of skin-problem which also made the skin on his hands peel off.’


He didn’t smile much either. Indeed many of the people present commented to each other that the man seemed to be a mere shadow of his former, energetic and very likeable, ebullient self.

With all the unrest countrywide due to the never-ending strike, the fuel-pumps running dry, the food-shops growing emptier by the day and the hundreds of thousands of strikers increasingly aggressive, violent and belligerent, the country is rapidly spinning out of control: with Cosatu trade union movement leader promising two months of unrelenting strike action. Now more than ever, South Africa needs a physically healthy leader at the helm of the ship of State.

 His apparent exhaustion did not seem to curtail his public appearances. However he has made no statements whatsoever about the growing chaos in the country.

He upset many people a week earlier, when, speaking at the opening of a consultative conference on access to justice, he warned that ‘the powers of the courts ‘cannot be superior’ to the powers ‘given by a political, and consequently administrative, mandate resulting from popular democratic elections. He warned that   ‘once the government had decided on appropriate policies, the judiciary could not, when striking down legislation, "raise that as an opportunity to change policies. Encroachment of one arm on the terrain of the other should be frowned upon by others, and there should be no bias in this regard," he said. Mr Zuma also took a swipe at those who took political battles to court, saying "political battles must be fought on political platforms". He did not name any cases specifically, but warned that ‘political disputes over the actions of a democratically elected government must not be subverted simply because those who disagree with the ruling party politically, and who cannot win the popular vote in elections, feel other arms of the state are avenues to help them co-govern the country". http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/Content.aspx?id=148028

A comment was issued on July 14 2011 from the presidential office that he was ‘studying’ the report of the Public Protector on an investigation into complaints and allegations of maladministration, improper and unlawful conduct by the Department of Public Works and the South African Police Service, relating to the leasing of office accommodation in Durban.

On July 13, the day he looked so glum, he was granted the freedom of Grahamstown and viewed the Guard of Honour, there was a 21-round gun salute by the G1 88mm Gun Troop, a salute flight by two air force helicopters; and a national salute. 
On July 7 2011, Pres Zuma visited three Limpopo hospitals on an inspection tour with senior officials of his goverment’s sonamed Health Outcome project. He visited Siloam District Hospital, Vhembe: Lebowakgomo District Hospital, Lebowakgomo and the Lebowakgomo Hospital. He was accompanied by Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Minister Collins Chabane and Deputy Minister Dina Pule, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and Deputy Minister Dr Gwen Ramakgopa, Public Works Minister Gwen Mahlangu, Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale as well as Limpopo Members of the Executive Council.

We had hoped that after the Polokwane conference there would be peace, harmony, unity and coherence in our movement. Little did we know that it would be deteriorate into anarchy. How will we celebrate the 100th anniversary when comrades stab, kill and plot against one another? Matthews Phosa has said that Polokwane would be a picnic compared to Mangaung and he is being proved correct every day. The brutal killings of Sbu Mkhize and Wiseman Mshibe, the Alpha Shelembe saga and burning of ANC offices, controvercy around so-called investigations into Willie Hofmeyr and Thuli Madonsela, the amigos corruption case, and the mistrust between the ANC top six and within provincial committees indicate an organisation in chaos and dissarray.How many people must die for my organisation to realise that the scramble for resources is deviding the ANC? Afrikaners will perish without legal autonomy

We publish the following opinion-piece by South African anthropologist Cor Ehlers, a multi-talented Free State cattle-farmer who chairs the OASE organisation: its goal: to legally re-establish --  through the international community – an independent Afrikaner State on 6,5% of the total land-surface of South Africa – the territory where the Boers were settled permanently as independent republicans ever since the Great Trek.  Their Facebook page just opened


We also run advertisements on our pages encouraging people to sign up for the Volksraadverkiesingskommittee – which is electing a negotiation-commission for just one goal: the establishment of an independent republic inside South Africa. Ehlers’ methods are different from the VVK plan – yet they both have the same ideals. We hope that the two groups will be able to come to an agreement so that these efforts can be combined. We will continue to present all these various viewpoints from Boer- and Afrikaner-Republicans who all strive for a small autonomous homeland: a place where their people can be safe from increasingly violent genocidal hatespeech and the widespread campaign of aggression now being experienced by Afrikaners under ANC-rule. We chose no sides: we also will always continue to support the attempts to charge the ruling African National Congress leaders in the International Criminal Court in The Hague for genocide: two organisations, the Pro-Afrikaans-Action Group and the Verkenners, lodged formal charges in The Hague in April and May 2011 in this regard.

 Ehlers Cor Mr Ehlers is a  seventh generation Afrikaner of German and Dutch descent both on his father’s and mother’s side. Paternal great grandfather Christiaan Ehlers fought in the Boers’ freedom wars in 1881 and1899-1902 against the invading colonial forces of Great Britain. Maternal great grandfather Ben Vorster, was a prisoner of war in Ceylon in 1902 and his wife was in a British concentration camp survivor: losing two children due to the horrendous conditions in those British death-camps 1901-1902. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Indigenous Law from the University of Pretoria. He ran a private security firm for 25 years, moving to the countryside to develop a guest farm in 2007 – www.poplargrove.co.za . Dutch-born Wife Dineke arrived as a young immigrant in SA with her parents and siblings in 1974. She holds a master’s degree in Afrikaans and Dutch from the University of South Africa; and is a lecturer there. The couple have one daughter, Marieke, who graduated in International Law (LLB)at the University of The Hague. Marieke was born and raised as an Afrikaner in South Africa, but decided to pursue her tertiary studies in The Netherlands, particularly after employment opportunities for whites (especially Afrikaners) were blocked by the ANC government’s anti-white black-economic-empowerment laws. Marieke continues her studies in LLM (International Law) from September at the  University of Kent in the UK.
Self-determination for Afrikaners and Boers is essential if they are to survive physically on the African continent:
TRETCHIKOFF BOEREMEISIE
Mr Ehlers writes:
“Due to my patriotic feelings for my own people and due to Marieke’s studies in International Law in The Hague, I have come to the conclusion that the only way in which Afrikaners will ever survive both culturally and physically in Africa will be through external self-determination and territorial sovereignty.
The concept of self-determination has always been seen as belonging to ‘a far-right minority’ amongst Afrikaners and the media -- and ANC propaganda has always succeeded in labelling any gesture in this direction as being ‘extreme rightwing’. The vast majority of Afrikaners, both in South Africa and abroad, are however yearning for a solution and with the correct approach we believe territorial sovereignty for Afrikaners can be achieved in the medium to long term. We have established an independent organisation, OASE (Onafhanklike Afrikaner-selfbeskikkingsekspedisie or: Independent Afrikaner self-determination expedition) which is not linked in any direct or indirect way to any political and/or cultural organisation. We have involved a number of academics and persons across a broad spectrum of Afrikaner society and this has resulted in some excellent research. We believe our endeavours will ultimately pay off since we carry no ‘right- or leftwing political baggage’.
We base our claims on the UN’s International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Section 1.1 (and other relevant declarations and resolutions) which clearly states:
  • ‘All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.’
There are no specific criteria in International Law defining the process which ought to be followed to obtain external self-determination --  however, an international law expert - David Raic - conducted an in-depth study of processes pertaining to external self-determination. His findings, together with the Montevideo Convention (1933) criteria for statehood have formed the legal basis of our claims thus far. The Montevideo Convention’s requirements for statehood are:
1. A clearly defined territory.
2. A permanent population of the group within the defined territory wishing to succeed from the unitary state.
3. An effective government.
4. The ability to enter into agreements with other sovereign states.
* A fifth requirement has subsequently developed in International Law, i.e. the new state should underwrite and promote basic human rights.
In the past until June 2010, this uti possidetis iuris principle was a serious obstacle for Afrikaners who desired external self-determination, since secession could only take place if former colonial borders remained intact -- which would have meant that Afrikaners would have ended up as yet another minority in one or both of the former Boer Republics (Freestate and Transvaal) which were colonized in 1902 after a vicious scorched-earth war by colonial invader Great Britain. However this changed after the outcome of the Kosovo case in the ICJ in the Hague in June 2010 – and also, due to tremendous pressure from legal advisers since the crumbling of East European states, the uti possidetis rule has become less important.
  • This means Afrikaners can now claim territory where they form the majority within a specific region by drawing borders in a way which will exclude millions of blacks – many of whom are migrants from borders north of present-day South Africa. The territory which OASE has identified, based on anthropoligical, archaeological, historical and economic research formed integral parts of the former Boer Republics and is commonly known as the Highveld region of South Africa, linked with a corridor to the Northern Natal coast to include the harbour of Richards Bay and the World Heritage coastal enclave of St Lucia Bay.
Afrikaners will have to make certain harsh sacrifices in the process in order to minimise economic and administrative disruption in the process of seceeding from the unitary state. In accordance with International Law the process of secession must take place in a peaceful manner through negotiations. We doubt whether the ANC and its two political partners (SA Communist Party and Cosatu Trade Union Federation) will accept Afrikaners’ claims for territorial sovereignty. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we appoint a team of International Law experts consisting of lawyers both from South Africa and abroad, since we might ultimately have to go the same route as Kosovo did. Should negotiations with the ANC fail, we shall have no alternative but to declare unilateral independence and this may result in the ANC referring the case to the UN who will in turn refer it to the ICJ – as Serbia did in the case of Kosovo. Afrikaners will have to make sure that they have a watertight case if the process ends up in The Hague.
International support
The only way through wich a people can obtain external self-determination which will successfuly result in territorial sovereignty, is if such a new state is recognised by the international community.
  • Afrikaners’ endeavours will therefore have to run in tandem with diplomatic processes so that international partners can recognise the new state’s sovereignty, whether it is obtained through peaceful negotiations or through an Unilateral Declaration of Independence.
Recognition by the UN is not a legal requirement since sovereignty is gained even if only one other sovereign state recognizes the new state. However, for purposes of economic and physical survival Afrikaners would obviously have to try and get as many international supporters as possible.
During apartheid the state of Israel was always a strong international partner of Afrikaners and we believe this may well be the case again should Afrikaners gain sovereignty. An Afrikaner agricultural union (TLU SA) has also managed to build excellent relations with Georgia and we have hope  that that country will recognise eventual Afrikaner sovereignty.
Moreover, Afrikaners have always maintained strong cultural ties with the Flemish in Belgium which could result in that country also recognising our new state.
The winds of change currently blowing over Western Europe where support for nationalism is growing daily, could result in countries such as The Netherlands and Germany also ultimately recognising Afrikaner sovereignty. Ultimate recognition would obviously come if the USA recognizes our sovereignty and this will probably only happen under Republican rule.
ANC-regime is alienating its Western partners:
The ANC government is slowly alienating its western partners by embracing China, as well as rogue states such as North Korea and Libya and Zimbabwe. We believe the strategic location of a western ally (especially with harbour facilities) in Southern Africa would certainly raise the West’s consideration for recognition of an independent Afrikaner state.
International Law clearly prohibits violence as a method to obtain external self-determination, unless the unitary state becomes the aggressor and the minority wishing to secede acts in self-defence - another reason why our endeavours will not result in any success without international support.
Where else could Afrikaners –- who now face physical annihilation -- survive culturally and physically?
Afrikaners have only one ‘heimat’ and that is South Africa; should the international community not recognise Afrikaners’ right to external self-determination, then they should tell us where else we can survive culturally and physically and issue us with the necessary passports so that we can emigrate to such a country on a mass scale.
OASE will be embarking on a marketing and fundraising campaign within the next few months in order to raise support for external self-determination under the majority of Afrikaners who already reside in the defined territory, but also under those who fall outside the said territory including the more than half a million Afrikaners who have already settled abroad due to the ever-increasing crime rate since 1994 and because they are being deliberately barred from public life, including the job market, by the ANC-regime’s anti-white  black-economic empowerment laws. 
The Afrikaners will claim 6,5% of the total land surface – as a minority group they are 6% of the total population:
The option which OASE will be offering Afrikaners comprises approximately 6,5% of the country’s total land surface; Afrikaners as a minority group constitute 6% of the total population of South Africa.
  • Afrikaners have lived in that specific territory continuously since the Great Trek in 1836
  • The area which we have identified was tamed by Afrikaners who settled there in large numbers since the Great Trek in 1836 and which will include the Afrikaner suburbs of the two predominantly Afrikaner cities of Bloemfontein and Pretoria as well as several other Afrikaner towns of cultural and historical value to Afrikaners. The area is economically sustainable and could be developed further into a wealthy independent state where all Afrikaners (approximately 3 million) can ultimately survive, should this ever become necessary.

Na die naweek waartydens die ANCYL sy finale rewolusie teen ons volk geproklameer het, is verskeie volksgenote geskok, verward, kwaad en ‘n groot klomp bloot net depressief.  Interessant genoeg word daar net gepraat van immigrasie en verset.  Nie van hofsake en aanklagte van haatspraak nie.  Nee... net die twee – Emigrasie en Verset.  


Ek emigreer?   NOOIT!   Maar dan die term wat verswyg word deur ons volk – VERSET.  Verset het my aan die dink gesit.  Daar is soveel vrae – wat is verset?  Hoe werk verset?  Is die volk reg vir verset?  Mag ek as Christen in verset gaan teen die regering? Is verset nou nodig?  Om die vraag te antwoord kan mens net deur die koerante blaai.

Orals spring die woorde ‘oorlog, skiet, rewolusie’ uit
Ons kan net die kommentaar van forum en internet gebruikers waarneem.  Orals spring die woord “oorlog, skiet, rewolusie” ens uit.   In die veilige omgewing van skuil agter ‘n skuilnaam is dit duidelik dat die volk nou in verset wil gaan.  Hulle is gereed daarvoor, maar is bang of onseker. 


Die moorde neem net toe, die verdrukking op ekonomiese terrein begin al hoe feller toegepas word en Malema gebruik ook woorde soos ‘rewolusie, oorlog, vyande ens ens”.   Hier is konflik op pad.  Die volk wil in verset gaan.   Maar hy is onseker en/of bang.  Verset is ‘n onbekende faktor wat ons liewers wil vermy net omdat dit ons laat dink aan die Boeremag of aan oorlog.

Die vraag wat dan altyd opduik is -  mag ons as Christene dan in verset gaan teen die regering?

Verset teen ‘n owerheid?
Wanneer mag, of selfs moet, ‘n volk tot verset kom teen die owerhede wat oor hom gestel is?  Om die vraag te beantwoord, moet ons eerstens by die staanspoor begin deur te se dat ons volk se wortel van ons volksbestaan Calvinisties is.  Die grootste gedeelte van ons volk is Calvinisties.  Dit is hoe ons grootgemaak is.  Dit is die wortel van ons volk se bestaan.   Nou waar eindig die plig tot gehoorsaamheid en waar begin die plig tot verset?  Die Nederlandse Calvinistiese geskiedskrywer en wysgeer Groen van Pinsterer maak die volgende uitspraak in sy boek Ongeloof en Revolutie :

  • Ons daarenteen beweer dat die Heilige Skrif die grondslae van reg en sedelikheid, van gesag en vryheid, ook vir volke en regerings aanwys.  Die Bybel is die onbedrieglike toetssteen.  Onvoorwaardelike onderwerping aan Gods Woord was steeds die waarborg van pligmatige gehoorsaamheid en van pligmatige verset”.
Die Calvinisties Protestants Gereformeerde standpunt oor die owerheidsgesag en reg tot verset berus op die Heilige Skrif alleen.  Dit is vir ons verwoord in artikel 36 van die Nederlandse Geloofsbelydenis (Eerste gedeelte aangehaal) :  
  • “Ons glo dat ons goeie God vanweë die verdorwenheid van die menslike geslag konings, vorste en owerhede aangestel het. Dit is immers Sy wil dat die wêreld deur middel van wette en regerings geregeer moet word, sodat die losbandigheid van die mense in bedwang gehou kan word en alles onder die mense ordelik kan verloop. Vir dié doel het Hy die owerheid die swaard in die hand gegee om die kwaaddoeners te straf (Rom 13:4) en die deugsames te beskerm.”
En dit is nie alleen hulle taak om aan die staatsbestuur aandag te gee en daaroor te waak nie maar ook om die heilige Woordbediening te beskerm, om sodoende alle afgodery en valse godsdiens teen te gaan en uit te roei, die ryk van die Antichris te vernietig en die koninkryk van Jesus Christus te bevorder, die Woord en die evangelie orals te laat verkondig, sodat God deur elkeen geëer en gedien word soos Hy in sy Woord beveel.”
Dit is dus wel so dat ons aan die owerheid gehoorsaam moet wees, maar slegs sovêr hulle Gods ryk uitbou soos opgesom in artikel 36 van die NGB. 
  • Daar staan tog duidelik : “En dit is nie alleen hulle taak om aan die staatsbestuur aandag te gee en daaroor te waak nie maar ook om die heilige Woordbediening te beskerm, om sodoende alle afgodery en valse godsdiens teen te gaan en uit te roei, die ryk van die antichris te vernietig en die koninkryk van Jesus Christus te bevorder, die Woord en die evangelie orals te laat verkondig”
Die gesag en wettigheid van ‘n owerheid is nie onbeperk nie…
So is die gesag en wettigheid van ‘n owerheid dan onbeperk?  Verseker nie!  Owerhede wat God uitsluit en hulself in God se plek stel, is dan verseker onwettig en oorskry hulle gesag.  Dit gee aan elke onderdaan die reg om in verset te kom.  Die Woord is duidelik dat ons God meer gehoorsaam moet wees as mense (Hand 5:29).  In Calvyn se Institusie maak hy dit ook duidelik in slotartikel 32 van slothoofstuk 20 soos volg :
  • “Ons is dus gehoorsaamheid aan die owerhede verskuldig.  Egter altyd met hierdie bepaling daarby dat die gehoorsaamheid ons nie ongehoorsaam moet maak aan Hom, aan wie se wil al die begeertes van die konings onderworpe moet wees, vir wie se majesteit hulle almal moet buig nie.  Hoe verkeerd sal dit nie wees om Hom te beledig ten einde mense tevrede te stel nie.  Hy is die Koning van die konings.” 
Ons volk word gedwing om in verset te kom: hulle vertrap ons God:
Dit dwing dus ons as volk om in verset te kom teen die regering aangesien hulle duidelik ons God vertrap in hulle grondwet, hulle parlement, hulle wette, hulle uitsprake, hulle bedrog ens.  Om nie eers te praat van hulle plig om afgodery uit te roei, die Woordbediening te beskerm en die koninkryk van Jesus Christus uit te bou nie.
Ons mag onbeskaamd dit uitskreeu: Ons wil vry wees!
Nou het ons wel vir onsself uitgeklaar dat ons mag in verset kom een die owerheid wat oor ons aangestel is.  Ons mag onbeskaamd dit uitskreeu : Ons wil vry wees! 
  • Maar ‘n Christenvolk moet die wettige en grondwetlike weg volg tot die doodloop
Die metodes wat hier aangewend kan word, is kritiek en protes, aksie fronte, magsvertoning en in besonder die van afsplitsing en naas ontwikkeling.  
Lydelike en aktiewe verset is Gesag-Onbehoorsaamheid en  Wet-vermyding:
Dit is volgens my die beste en ordelikste manier om onder ‘n on-christelike regering uit te kom.  Indien die nood en onregte egter nie langs die manier reggestel kan word nie, kan daar oorgegaan word na lydelike en aktiewe verset. Dit behels gesag-ongehoorsaamheid en wet-vermyding. 
Hieroor het Prof HG Stoker wel iets by te se in boek Die stryd om die ordes :
  • “Watter oplossing, watter metode van oorwinning van die noodsituasie ook gevind mag word, - die Calvinis is dan alleen geregverdig om daardie metode enduit toe te pas, en mag alleen dan Gods seen op sy bemoeiinge verwag, - as hy in sy gemoed oortuig is, dat wat hy onderneem, volgens die lig van Gods Woord en werklik volgens sy oortuiging die wil van God is.” 
Verset moet deur die Volk gevolg word:
Verder is dit belangrik dat die reg van verset nooit die enkeling toekom nie, maar moet deur die volk gevolg word.  Waar daar ‘n klomp volksgenote bymekaarkom en die wil van verset uitspreek, is dit geregverdig as dit gemeet kan word aan Gods Woord.
Noudat ons vir onsself uitgeklaar het dat daar wel deur ‘n volk in verset mag gaan teen ‘n on-christelike owerheid, sal ons moet definieer wat is verset en watter verset modelle daar kan wees.  Die beste om so iets na te fors is in ons eie volksgeskiedenis.  Die Boeregeskiedenis bied ‘n uitstekende , werkbare model vir ons: http://www.vvk.co.za/8948/index.html

VOLKSRAADVERKIESINGSKOMITEE PRETORIA JUN2011

BOEREVERSET
FW de Klerk se verraad in 1992 beskou baie van ons volksgenote as die grootste vernedering wat ons volk nog gely het.  Daar was egter net so groot vernedering vir ons volk op 12 April 1877 toe Shepstone met net 25 polisiemanne sonder enige slag of stoot die Transvaal geannekseer het en die Union Jack gehys het.  Die oorname was vooruitgegaan deur President Burgers wat ‘n liberale hervormingsbeleid begin toepas het, en so die volk se veggees en vryheidsgees geblus het.  Eers toe die harde werklikheid van vreemde oorheersing tot die volk gekom het, het hulle ‘n verset-gees begin ontwikkel. Kruger het in daardie tyd die weg van onderhandelinge gevolg.  Daar is ‘n vryheidsafvaardiging verkies om die volk se vryheid te gaan opeis.  Die eerste vryheidsafvaardiging was  Kruger en Jorissen.  In Desember 1877 het die afvaardiging egter met onverrigte sake teruggekom.  7 Januarie 1878 het sowat 1,000 burgers opgedaag in Pretoria om verslag te kom ontvang van die vryheidsafvaardiging.  Dit was ‘n onstuimige vergadering en die leiers was self baie verbaas om die verandering in die volk waar te neem. 


Versoekskrif: eis om ons vryheid terug te gee:
Die volgende stap wat Kruger hulle gevolg het was om ‘n versoekskrif op te stel wat die volksgenote moes teken. Die versoekskrif het dit duidelik gestel dat die volk sy vryheid wil terughê.  Tydens die tydperk van handtekening insameling is daar 5 volksvergaderings belê.  Die eerste was in April 1878 waartydens 1,154 boere byeengekom het by Doornfontein -- ten spyte van Shepstone se verbod op publieke vergaderings.   Daarna is die vryheidsafvaardiging weer gestuur na die Engelse.  Hulle het egter weer teruggekeer met onverrigte sake.  Die patroon van vryheidsafvaardiging, verslag en volksvergaderings het egter begin vrugte afwerp. 
Die volk het in meer en meer getalle by die vergaderings opgedaag en allomeer lydelike verset begin toepas.  Die getalle van die volksvergaderings toon duidelik dat die volk al hoe meer oortuig begin raak het dat verset die enigste uitweg was :

Meningsopname:
Wat ook interessant is, is ‘n meningsopname wat by Kleinfontein gehou is.  Daar is gekyk of die volk reg is vir gewapende protes of nie.  Daar was 219 burgers ten gunste van geweld, 154 ten gunste van lydelike verset en 1,137 wat gewillig was om die meerderheid se besluit te aanvaar.  Tans is dit net so met ons volk. 
  • Net ‘n handjie vol is bereid om ‘n besluit te neem.  Die res val by die meerderheid in.
Lydelike verset was altyd daar:
Tydens die openbare vergaderings is dit egter belangrik om te weet dat die lydelike verset deurentyd teenwoordig was.  Daar was voorvalle van openlike verontagsaming van die landswette.  Betalings van belastings is ontduik, ammunisie is onwettig verkry en daar was geweier om voor die howe te verskyn. 
  • Daar was egter twee groot aksies van lydelike verset wat uitgestaan het bo die res.
In Wonderfontein is verbode Vierkleur gehys en Pretorius vir hoogverraad in hegtenis geneem:


By Wonderfontein se vergadering is die Vierkleur weer vir die eerste keer gehys (dit was verbied).  Britse gesag was luidkeels verwerp.  Pretorius was as gevolg hiervan op 5 Januarie 1880 vir hoogverraad in hegtenis geneem.  Daar het as gevolg daarvan 300 gewapende burgers opgeruk in Potchefstroom.  Kruger moes dadelik soontoe gaan om die burgers tot bedaring te roep.


Bezuidenhout se wa
Die mees bekendste voorval van lydelike verset was sekerlik die voorval van Bezuidenhout se wa.  Die vorm van lydelike verset was die vuurhoutjie in die kruitvat.  Bezuidenhout het geweier om belasting te betaal, waarna die landdros beslag gele het op sy wa.  Die wa moes op 11 November 1880 per openbare veiling verkoop word.  Piet Cronje en 100 boere het egter hul opwagting gemaak en die bode van die hof van die wa geruk en die wa terugbesorg aan Bezuidenhout.  Die gort was gaar en die Paardekraal vergadering was daardeur vervroeg van Januarie 1881 na 8 Desember 1880.


Paardekraal
By Paardekraal was daar besluit op oorlog sodat ons volk weer kon vry wees.  As ons dan die Boere-verset model opsom, sal dit wees :
1.       Vryheidsafvaardiging
  2.       Verslag en volksvergadering
  3.       Versoekskrif
  4.       Lydelike verset
5.       Aktiewe verset
6.       Wapenstryd

Die uitkoms hiervan was gevegsgereedheid, gevegsgedugtheid, roemryke oorwinnings, VRYHEID!
Die Boerevolk word nou opgeroep tot ‘n groot waagstuk.  Kom ons wees eerlik en reguit met mekaar.  Vryheid het altyd ‘n duur prys om te betaal.  In ons volk se geskiedenis was die vryheid selfs so duur soos 26 000 vrouens en kinders. 

Ons volk staan nou voor die kruispad.  Verset, of vlug.  Immigreer of verset.  Elkeen van ons sal nou moet kies.  Gaan ons veg of gaan ons vlug.  Ek kies die Boere verset model. 
Kom ons verkies ‘n volksraad (vryheidsafvaardiging) en laat hulle ons vryheid gaan opeis.  Laat hulle terugkom en verslag doen aan die volk.  Ons as volk sal tesame hiermee moet begin met lydelike verset.  Dit mag dal oorspoel na aktiewe verset en selfs na gewapende verset.  Maar laat ons dit end uit doen.  Laat ons nou al begin praat van VERSET!  Dit kan nie meer ‘n geborge, geslote term in ons volksmond wees nie.  Dit moet deur ons gepraat en gedoen word.  Die term moet in ons kinders se taal gevestig word.  Ons volk kan net oorleef deur in verset te gaan.
