“Shoot the white' – COSAS SRC council member at Witwatersrand university, Tokelo Nhlapo, faces charge by Afriforum
2011-11-17 -Johannesburg - AfriForum Youth placed an official charge of hate speech and incitement to genocide against a Johannesburg student for singing an altered version of the outlawed "shoot the boer" song, namely 'Shoot the Whites' .
The charge was against Wits University student council member Tokelo Nhlapo for singing "dubula lekgoa" which means "shoot the whites". AfriForum Youth chair Charl Oberholzer said it was sung at the university on October 14 ahead of a lecture by recently suspended ANC Youth League president Julius Malema. "Inciting students to sing hate songs is a sign of weak leadership," Oberholzer said in a statement on Thursday. "By singing this song, the students expressed their hate for white people."He said the university had launched an investigation into the matter but no findings had been released yet.
