Missing Lammert Belgrove died in mystery-crash 3 December 2011 - Kathryn Kimberley reported in the Despatch from East London that Stellenbosch University graduate Lammert Belgrove had gone missing in East London on Thursday morning Dec1 2011. He had been at the University of STellenbosch and graduated with top honours in political science. It was reported by Nico Strydom on 5 December 2011 that Mr Belgrove's body was found monday-morning in his car outside Gonubie near East London. It's not certain exactly how he came to crash. He 'd had only one drink with friends before he left in his white Toyoto Hilux bakkie to go home. His bakkie was found crashed among the woods along the N2 highway between Beacon Bay and Gonubie. He was found dead inside. His parents say on facebook that he had been in a 'crash and did not survive it'. It's not known whether he had crashed against another vehicle or not. It is still not a very clear event: Belgrove was seen drinking only one beer before leaving the pub shortly before closing. Farmers Bennie and Lettie de Ru attacked a second time near Bloemfontein Sunday Dec 4 2011. Volksblad newspaper reports that Afrikaans farming-couple Bennie and Lettie de Ru were attacked for a second time on their farm De Erf near Bloemfontein. During a previous attack in 1995, the couple were very badly injured but recovered. On Sunday, Mr de Ru was attacked from behind by a 22-year-old black man using a 'cement-filled plastic pipe' as the weapon was described by the farmer. Mr De Ru then was also bashed in the face and pushed with his throat against a wall - but managed to free himself and yell to his wife Lettie to fetch their gun. The attacker then fled in Mr de Ru's Isuzu-bakkie and drove off at very high speed. Within just seconds, 2 kilometres down the farm road, the attacker had crashed the bakkie and was seriously injured during the crash. He was rushed to the Bongani-Hospital in Bloemfontein where he reportedly was in a coma. Serbian man murdered in SA: lodger called Lenad sought after murder of Mile Veljkovic, 63, in Secunda South Africa. 2011-12-02 Secunda SAPS are seeking for a lodger identified only as Lenad (pictures attached from CCTV-camera at nearby petrol-station) to help them in their investigation of the ruthless murder of 63-year-old Mr Mile Veljkovic of Secunda. Mr Veljkovic 's skull was crushed and a plastic bag pulled over his head: it is suspected that he was then smothered to death. The murder happened on 2 November 2011 but the police only notified the newsmedia on December 2. The man's son Claudio, 16, and a friend discovered the murdered man's body on 2 November when the youths returned from school.The youngsters said that this man Lenad had been lodging with the family for 'quite some time' and was at the house when Claudio left for school that morning.SAPS spokesman Lt col Leonard Hlathi said Claudio noticed that his father's Toyoto Hilux-bakkie wasn't parked at the house as usual.The youngsters were unable to get in except to climb through a window - were they made the gruesome discovery.The police carried out a neighbourhood survey and discovered closed-circuit TV footage at a nearby garage which showed Lenand days before the murder.Hlathi asked the public to contact the investigating police officers lt.col Enoch Mbokane at 0825565630 or capt Tanya Oosthuysen at 0824962220 if they know more about the case or spotted Lenad. "Threatening" uniformed cops forced elderly white couple to pay R75.- for a meal they said was poorly prepared. December 3 2011 Journalist Sameer Naik of The Star interviewed Peter Stiff, 78 and wife Fran, who said they were horrified by the abuse they allegedly received from the management of the Crayfish Inn Restaurant in Ramsgate - after they complained about the poor quality of the food. Book publisher Mr Stiff - who moves around on crutches - said 'we were locked in the restaurant, verbally abused by the managers and then were forced to pay R75.- for a meal that had been overcooked and dry.'
A lawyer from Fedhasa, the South African hospitality association, says the police should never have been called in for what was a civil dispute over services. Mr Stiff said the co-owner flew into a temper on hearing their complaints, allegedly telling them that 'regardless of whether we ate the fish or not, we would pay for the fish which cost around R75.' It all happened three weeks ago when they were holidaying at the South Coast. After complaining of the quality of the food, which they had rejected after just tasting it, the couple stood up and headed for the front door but were blocked by another of the restaurant owners. “He pushed me around and told me to go back to my table and pay for what I had ordered. "There was nothing I could do as I am 78 and I am on crutches, so I was defenceless,” said Peter Stiff. The owners then summoned the police. The uniformed cops then ordered the couple to "pay for the meal they had ordered or be arrested." The owners of the Crayfish Inn confirmed they’d called the police after the couple refused to pay for their meal. “Neither the staff nor management laid a hand on the couple,” said manager Johnson Shou. “Neither did we verbally abuse either of them.” Shou said the couple had complained consistently from the moment they sat down. Shou said they had attended to every complaint and offered them free meals. “However, the couple just refused to pay.” “If the consumers felt threatened or were abused in any way by the police they can report this to the Independent Complaints Directorate,” said Bianca Coelho Barata of law firm Goldman Judin Inc. Barata urged consumers to report restaurants to the National Consumer Forum should they be unhappy with the treatment they receive. He was last seen arriving at his homestead on Friday December 2011 in his white Opel Astra at 2pm. A witness heard the alarm go off shortly thereafter – and minutes later an ‘unknown man’ was seen chasing away at high speed with the farmer’s vehicle from the farm-gate. Electrical equipment is said to be missing. A case of house-robbery and kidnapping was lodged at the Nigel police-station. Mr Jan Petzer, head of the rural emergency-and-disaster organisation in Nigel, said at 8pm last night that ‘nobody knows the exact facts around Jacobs’ disappearance. A member of the organisation had apparently reacted to an emergency call from Jacobs but also was unable to find any sign of him. SAPS w/o Madeleine von Wielligh confirmed that they were searching for the farmer. Mr Peter said he was at the homestead and ‘it’s clear things have happened there but we do not know exactly what’. Journalist Marlene Jordaan reported that the High Court court had to convene while hearing testimony from Marietjie, the widow of murdered farmer Helgard Muller, when she testified at the trial of his accused killers how her son Helgard Junior just shouted over and over: 'my pa, my pa, my pa' (my dad) She burst into tears and was so overcome with grief, saying she 'didn't believe he was going to die,' that the court convened to give her a chance to calm down. The couple had been deeply devoted to each other and were married for 41 years. Mrs Muller suffers from multiple schlerosis and is nearly blind: she can barely walk, she testified, and was also in a wheelchair when she and her housekeeper were held at gunpoint for two hours while the attackers were waiting for her husband to return on the day he was murdered. Anti-white hatespeech by SA COMMUNIST PARTY secy-general Blade Nzimande. He blames the 'white middle class' for the widespread 'Black Tuesday' campaign, sayhing the 'whites' are whipping up the campaign against the 'protection of information Act'. The man made the statement without providing any proof, speaking in parliament on November 23, when the hugely unpopular and very suppressive censorship law was passed by the ANC-majority regime. Only ONE ANC-ministers was not present during the vote: and only one other ANC-MP voted against: a communist party member of long standing. Mzimande's racist comment included claims that 'the white middle-class does not function for the public good.' The new act will enable the regime to incarcerate journalists for long periods for publishing information which is judged by individual heads of department to be 'secret' or 'sensitive to the national interest'. The latest attack on the Gessler women was on November 22, 2011: by three ‘pistol-wielding black males’ according to the Laudium newspaper who interviewed them. The three gunmen had forced their way through the front door in broad daylight. So said after hearing the sentence that it was a great shock to her to hear acting judge Bert Bam mention that Sebetsho has AIDS. She shouted to the men as they were being taken down the court-cells: "Justice. So you see me? Justice? Tatta', reported Beeld journalist Jeanne-Marie Versluis. The Afrikaans woman was raped on 19 August 2008 at her home in the Baviaanspoort prison premises. Johannes David Monama and Marebele Edward Sebetsho raped the woman in front of her four-year-old child - and she told Versluis she is only now, after the sentence, getting her life back. She had to take anti-retroviral medication for six months after her ordeal, and it had 'many counter-effects: I was in bed most of the time and my parents had to look after me. I can remember very little from that period'. Fortunately she found that after six months she was not infected with the Aids-virus;"Only now can I start with my new life,' she said - adding that she has been on sick-leave from her job ever since that day. Mrs Justice Bam said when sentencing Monama and Sebetsho that the fact that the victim was raped in front her her child was 'very humiliating and added greatly to her trauma;'. And the child also still suffers from seperation-anxieties. Bam said 'this evil deed cannot be tolerated. Will any amount of money compensate her for the damage done to her? SA cops stormed Nigerian consulate gate, tried to climb electronic fence in bribery-row December 3 2011 Journalist Thabiso Thakal reported a startling incident in the Saturday Star which occurred on Tuesday Nov 29: when SAPS members from the Bramley police station on Tuesday tried to storm the gate of the Nigerian consulate-general in Johannesburg - in an alleged row over Nigerians refusing to pay 'bribes' to staffers at the embassy.
It is not clear from the story whether the staffers were Nigerian or South African citizens. Attached: photograph of alleged SAPS assault on consular gate from CCTV footage. The drama played out when members from the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ, all set to to Nigeria the next day, had demanded their passports back after being denied visas over claims they “refused to pay a bribe”. They had wanted to attend an annual prayer meeting in Nigeria. Heavily armed police from Bramley police station arrived and, denied access by consular officials, allegedly tried to storm the gate before attempting to scale the electric fence. CCTV shows armed South African officers arguing with (South African) security guards and (Nigerian) embassy officials while the officers tride to invade the consular premises. Church members were handed their passports with cancelled visas. Thami Khanyile of the church said they were told “bluntly” by an official that staff (not clear whether they were Nigerians or South Africans) had been sweating over 68 visas for “nothing”. “When we stated that we were not willing to pay a bribe, the officials reacted angrily and proceeded to revoke the visas which had already been issued in our passports,” he said. “We called the police to come to our rescue because they refused to hand our passports back. We wanted to open a case but we were advised to take this through international relations.” Khanyile said the church has lost more than R500m in booked air tickets and accommodation for the 68. “They (consular officials) told us that the Nigerian church which we were visiting did not provide them with a genuine certificate that our church was registered,” he added. “We saw this as a ploy to try and solicit a bribe from us.” Consular sources said the church members had tried to stage an “illegal sit-in” at the consulate after they were told to return the next day with extra documents. Security was called to forcibly remove them, but police arrived and tried to force their way in. “They ordered the guard on duty to open the gate and when he refused they threatened to gain entry by force,” said a source. A consular official who cannot be named said the officers acted “in violation of the diplomatic protocol and will have to answer serious questions for invading Nigeria”. Clayson Monyela, spokesman for the Department of International Relations and Co-operation, said the department would raise the issues through diplomatic channels with their Nigerian counterparts. The SAPS would investigate once an official complaint was received, said national police spokesperson Captain Dennis Adriao. Rehoboth-Baster farmer Ernest Jacobus Cloete, 73, found murdered, tied up on farm in Rehoboth region, Namibia: The Republikein newspaper reports frrom Windhoek, Namibia that the Ernst Jacobus Cloete, 73, was found tortured to death, hogtied with hands-and-feet. He was found hidden beneath branches 150 metres from his homestead in the Rehoboth region of Namibia..
The find was made Tuesday at 10am by the police. About 50 metres from his body his bakkie was parked. Mr Cloete did not own any farm-land: he had been farming with sheep, goats and cattle at the Three Rivier commons which is leased by the city council. His wallet, personal documents, a gun and 28 sheep are msising. His son Hugo says he believes his father was murdered Monday between 3pm and 7pm "My dad was still talking with his neighbour between 2pm and 3pm Monday. The neighbour's herdsman showed up at Cloete's leased property at 7pm to fetch back some of his cattle which had been grazing on the commons. " He saw my dad's bakkie standing there, but just kept on fetching his own cattle.' Hugo said the police had made an announcement over Rehoboth Community radio station on Tuesday-mornng about sheep wandering around. "The neighbour went to the commons to check out whether some of those may be his animals at Drie Rivier - and saw that his bakkie's key had been broken off in the ignition'. The police was warned at the same time by Mr Cloete's children reporting him missing and they found him during a search. Mr Cloete is survived by his wife Clara, five sons and three daughters. Ms Holl writes that her mother turned on all the lights and shouted loudly - "but still the men demanded access" to the homestead.
Her mom then fired two shots into a wall to try and discourage them - however the men still were determined in their attempts to break in. "It was only when four shots were fired through the door that they turned around and just walked away,' writes Ms Holl. "My mom and a friend lived alone on the plot, and it was sure that these African men knew about it. Thankfully my mom and her friend are alright: police and family members stayed over for the rest of that night. My mom had moved out by wednesday-night: frightened for her life and fearing they would return."
