Xenophobic attacks in South Africa from January 1 2010 to January 26 2012:

MAP, graph:

Since January 2010, there have been 186 xenophobic attacks by foreign black Africans in Gauteng province alone, 38 in KwaZulu-Natal, 39 in Cape Town and dozens more all across South Africa. The latest two victims, two Somalian traders injured in a petrol-bomb attack in Tokoza, are recovering in hospital.

Inkatha Freedom Party spokesman Petros Sithole slammed the attacks, saying: "These latest xenophobic attacks are disgraceful and lamentable. As a nation, we have an obligation to assist refugees who flee their countries fearing for their own safety. And we have an obligation to ensure that we uphold the values and principles of South Africa's Constitution and human rights culture at all times.”. The IFP chairman in Gauteng pointed out that these had been xenophobic attacks. However – local SAPS Capt Godfrey Maditsi described these attacks on January 24 2012 as mere 'robberies' -- although not mentioning the items which may have been ‘robbed.’

Following is a map and graph detailing the xenophobic attacks from January 2010 to Jan 2012 on the independent criminology-website Farmitracker.com
