Black killer of Marinda O’Dell gets life in prison
Krugersdorp occupational therapist Marinda O’Dell - a family-acquaintance of Freedom Front Gauteng leader Jaco Mulder -- was murdered by three black men on July 29 2009 in her Krugersdorp home. Nothing was robbed. One man was never caught; a second confessed and turned state witness. Yesterday, Mphaphantsi Stanley Mabulane (captured in the ceiling of the O’Dell home) was sentenced to a lifetime in prison on May 9 2012. He keeps on denying his guilt. Nobody knows their motive for this daring daylight attack in front of so many witnesses: nothing was robbed. The mainstream SA news media describes it as just another ordinary armed robbery.
Convicted murderer Mphaphantsi Stanley Mabulana, found guilty of cutting the throat of occupational therapist Marinda O'Dell, 48 in Noordheuwel, Krugersdorp on July 29 2009, gets a lifetime in prison three years later. He vehemently denies all guilt -- although he was found hiding in the ceiling by the SAPS after cutting Marinda O’Dell’s throat with a hunting knife…
2012-05-10 - KRUGERSDORP MAGISTRATE'S COURT. 29-year-old Mphaphantsi Stanley Mabulana was sentenced to life in prison for murder: he had earlier been found guilty of cutting the throat of the unarmed white 48-year-old Krugersdorp woman Marinda O'Dell and the attempted murder of her daughter Alicia, then 17 years old.
Marinda O’Dell was talking on her cellphone to a friend asking her whether she’d seen her daughter Alicia, 17 – when her throat was slashed… Police arrived within minutes and arrested Mabulana in the ceiling: but he denies his guilt to this day:
Left:
It has taken three long years and great personal courage by the O’Dell family to convict two of the killers -- and it remains a deeply mysterious case: nothing was robbed, and no explanation of the motive was ever provided in testimony. the murdered woman, Marinda and her husband Henry O’Dell were family-acquaintances of Freedom Plus provincial leader Jaco Mulder, left. He demanded two days later that ‘the government starts to apply influx (border-control) on the citizens of neighbouring countries to South Africa and that the freedom of movement of potential criminals are restricted," he said. Mulder said the inability of government to exert law enforcement was a direct cause of tragic incidents in Krugersdorp. "This government is sacrificing us for the sake of a dream which turned into a nightmare because of their own doing," Mulder said.

‘ He immediately started strangling me. I felt his cold hands: he had long fingernails… ‘ Alicia, 17…
The survivor, Alicia (left), then a matric pupil, gave courageous
testimony at the trial, telling the court that she had pleaded with one knifeman to 'please not hurt her'. Alicia testified on closed-circuit camera because she suffered from post-traumatic shock syndrome and also had to be protected as one of the state-witnesses. Alicia told the court that she was attacked inside her Krugersdorp home after her return from school on July 29 2009. She was strangled and beaten with a heavy spanner and passed out. “I pleaded with him not to hurt me as I saw him walking towards me with a knife in his hand. I then struggled to keep him out by pushing against the door while he was pushing it from the other side. He got inside and immediately started strangling me, holding my neck with his hands. I felt his cold hands. He had longish fingernails. I started feeling faint. I saw the knife on the floor and tried to pick it up but he kicked it away. I lost conscienceness,’ she testified.
She was taken to Kagiso police station to confront a police line up, she testified:. “I recognised the three because they looked so similar to one another, each with beards and very dark-skinned,’ she told Beeld newspaper. She made a later court appearance during which she had positively identified Mabulana as one of the attackers. Despite her pleading to this man, she testified that she was strangled and was unconscious when her mother was killed..

Magistrate Vivian Hawkins said on May 9 2012 in the Krugersdorp magistrate court that Mabulana was found guilty of murdering the occupational therapist in July 2009 by cutting her throat with a hunting knife. She sentenced him to a lifetime in prison.
Two of the male attackers were put on trial for killing Mrs O'Dell on July 29 2008: with the second arrested man, Phetoke Cedrick Lebea pleading guilty shortly after his arrest admitting to breaking into the O'Dell home. He turned state witness and is serving a prison sentence.
Mabulana's legal counsel Adv L Mogotsi said after the verdict: his client 'does not show remorse because he keeps on denying his guilt, he will appeal against the sentence.'

329 armed attacks in Southern Africa against whites in towns and on farms by black gangs -- as logged on independent criminology-site Farmitracker Dec 2011 to May 8 2012:
The attacks against whites in southern Africa from Dec 2011 -- May 8 2012 also include three Zimbabwe-style farm occupations by tribal groups in northern KZN and in Komatipoort and Hectorspruit in Mpumalangha in the first week of May 2012. All three farms are located near the Mozambique/Swaziland borders. ANC-officials of three municipalities were assisting the tribal groups in these land-occupations.
