SA broadcaster bans two ads for racist reasons

The South African state-owned broadcaster SABC refused to run two hard-hitting advertisements this week: both over racist reasons…
1. The first banned advertisement was a campaign against black-racist xenophobia, which has already cost many lives in South Africa, with black South Africans attacking foreign Africans fleeing across the borders into the country in large numbers. Xenophobia is getting worse again because of the huge influx of millions of black, undereducated Africans, putting a tremendous strain on the SA infrastructure, Zuma biographer Jeremy Gordin also warned:
The minute-long video would have been broadcast on Friday-afternoon at SABC2 and Nando's you-tube ad had by Sunday-morning already been seen by 76,000 viewers.
By late Thursday-afternoon the SABC reportedly advised Nando by telephone that they would not broadcast the ad. The reason allegedly was that 'it prohibits broadcasting it under the ‘Electronics Communications and Transactions Act’ and the ‘Advertising Standards Authority's 'code of ethnics.' However Nando director Mark Radomsky accuses the state-broadcaster of censorship: "The purpose of the ad-campaign was to address the question of xenophobia in SA',’ he said. “The SABC failed to inform the company in writing,” he said. “Moreover the ASA has also stated that the ad is NOT against their rules of ethics”. SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago stated that the ad was pulled 'because of xenophobic undertones'.

The civil rights movement AfriForum also launched an ad campaign against the ANC's plans to make fundamental changes to the South African Constitution. “South Africa's Constitution was the manifestation of a negotiation process and amending it, as the ANC is considering doing, would amount to political breach of contract, ‘they said. “A petition against the ANC's proposed amendments to the Constitution is also posted in Afrikaans, English and Zulu on http://www.afriforum.co.za/ancpetition/.
AfriForum also presented the ANC Headquarters with copy of the video together with a memorandum. The campaign will be extended to the international arena as well, said Ernst Roets, Deputy Executive Director of AfriForum. He explained that AfriForum intended to discredit the ANC abroad “if it went ahead with its plans to make fundamental changes to the Constitution: It is becoming increasingly clear that the world has a misconception of the ANC. The ANC can no longer be seen as an organisation that wants to promote peace, tolerance and mutual respect in South Africa, but as an organisation that prefers to ‘struggle’ instead of governing -- and for whom the blind pursuit of a revolutionary political ideology is more important than the wellbeing of the country's inhabitants."

June 4 2012 – PRETORIA. VVK chair Paul Kruger said: “Sometimes, Boer-Afrikaners get killed in this country by other Afrikaners. That however represents a miniscule percentage of the killings by blacks. “We are being decimated by blacks. And these blacks strangle children, mutilate elderly women, ambush a lonely farmer. Yes that is cowardice.’Officially these killings are always ‘condemned’, but the ruling African National Congress sides with (fired ANC-youth league president Julius) Malema in court when he chants that we (the Boers), must be killed.”
Addressing DA provincial leader Anthony Benade, Kruger said: “You say ‘there is no place for (us Boers) in our society. This time you get it right Mr Benade, there is no place for us in your sick, pretentious, opportunistic, naive society. And we told you even before 1994 that we do not want to form part of your doomed-to-fail-rainbow nation experiment. But the ANC would not listen. They rather forced us against our will in this potpourri state – nothing less than political rape. And that was the real message of our Delmas memorandum: ‘stop this political rape and let us (Boers) reach a peaceful settlement regarding our internationally-recognised right to self-determinawtion in our own territory as was envisaged in your Constitution. The Sothos have Lesotho, the Swazis have Swaziland. We will not stop until we (Boers) also get independence,’ he concluded.
